In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgent to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity.

In a week, I'll be giving a talk at an art school in France. I've been contacted to speak on two separate topics: "Image-generating AI" and "The world of NFTs".

"The collapse of the contemporary art market" could simply mean that contemporary art itself is running out of steam. Artist @johnhamon_ has declared that contemporary art is dying. The 2021 invasion of the digital space—the (in)famous "NFT wave"—while temporarily creating confusion with the nascent cryptoart movement, turned out to be a flash in the pan.
Meanwhile, cryptoart - and different ramifications such as pepe art, trash art, spam art, etc. - represents a break from that, a chaotic burst of energy that is unpolished, decentralized and fiercely independent. Are we at the dawn of a new artistic period?

@hamoney_ is an art project I created in 2020.
There are 5,000 real banknotes with a unique number and each of the banknotes was inscribed on the #bitcoin blockchain in 2021.
It's probably one of the oldest art projects of this scale on #btc because #ordinals didn't even exist at that time.
I'm currently working on the second part of the project and hope to relaunch at the end of 2024.
