Yet she cannot receive additional support as a widow because she does not have his death certificate. His body was never returned to his family by the occupation. The loss is already unbearable. Now conditions compounds it. On September 2, The Sameer Project went directly to Khair Al-Ayadi Camp and distributed kofta (ground meat) and rice meals to families living there. We distributed 426 meals at a total cost of $1,162 after 11% commission fees to get the money into Gaza. Humanitarian aid should meet people where they are. It should preserve dignity, respond to suffering, and serve human beings - not as charity, not as numbers.
