Gm Solana
We are outside at SEZ Dubai, attending my first ever life solana event @SuperteamAE and it's sure gonna be a banger 😎, thanks to @Harri_obi and @afscott for making this possible
How on earth can one DevOps engineer be the single point of failure for a withdrawal of over $6 billion? For a company of this size, especially with all the hacks and exploits happening in the industry, you'd expect them to have learned from previous incidents and put proper safeguards in place.
This has happened over and over again, yet some of these companies still act as if they're superior to everyone else. 🤦♂️
Binance's initial investigation suggests that the security incident may involve a compromised DevOps engineer’s laptop, which allowed an attacker to gain access to a service container and submit unauthorized withdrawal transactions. We have found no evidence of any wallet private key leak. We will share a detailed technical post-mortem once the investigation is complete and the facts are fully verified.
The estimated total impact sits at around $6.3B. We have worked with blockchain partners to freeze affected assets, with ~$3 billion frozen on-chain so far.
Binance will cover all losses from the SAFU fund and the company’s funds. User funds are safe. We will also publish an updated Proof of Reserves once the remediation is complete.
As an immediate precaution, Binance has:
- temporarily suspended deposits and withdrawals while security checks are completed;
- revoked the affected address authorisation;
- engaged law enforcement and blockchain intelligence partners to trace and recover funds.
Our teams are working around the clock to resolve this issue safely and thoroughly. We are working closely with our law enforcement partners to confirm the identity of these criminals and bring them to justice.
Please rely only on official Binance channels for updates. Please feel free to contact Binance Customer Support if you have any further questions.

Bro, I swear, when I returned to Nigeria last year, I literally tried this after filling up my shopping basket at a supermarket in Lagos, thinking it would work, only to be told that it wasn't supported. I was so confused because this is completely normal in the UAE. It was second nature to me, like breathing air. 😂 I literally had a reality check.
And the funny thing is, I had a bunch of funded cards in my Google Wallet back then. I was moving like a big spender until I tried using one and suddenly my brain went, "Look around, bro. This isn't the UAE." 😭😂
With the advent of AI, expect more hacks like this. The barrier to entry is now lower than ever.
If you were already a sophisticated hacker, access to the best AI models can help you discover more vulnerabilities to exploit. This is the world we live in now, and it won’t stop at Binance.
Funny enough, traditional banks, which people often complain are too slow, might end up being among the places where hacks occur less frequently because of their security infrastructure, regulatory requirements, and layers of protection and centralization
This guy literally ran a social experiment on people, and it worked. 😂 When they tell you how easily people can be manipulated online, believe it.
I’ve already started seeing people who don’t even know how the whole thing started, picking sides and deciding who to attack, whether it’s the girl or Eric.
Bro, one person even said he knows the girl because she’s his family friend. 😭
Human beings, honestly. 😅
I keep saying this, this idea of just vibing and accepting everything that is written by the LLM will cost us later, what we are seeing now is nothing compared to the damage that will happen in the future when most systems has just being vibe coded

So basically, today PHP got two critical bugs that let anyone run code on your server without even logging in, which is bad, and then the details leaked before the patch was even out, which is worse, and it works on WordPress and MediaWiki and Magento and Joomla and Laravel, and Censys says like 1.5 million servers are running a version with no fix, so the NSA was like "take your system offline," and the FBI was like "take your system offline," and CISA and the UK and CERT-EU were all like "take your system offline," and then the Prime Minister of Japan, the actual Prime Minister, posted at 5:55 in the morning telling 48.8 million people to take their system offline, so everyone took their system offline, like the Dutch cybersecurity agency took its own website offline, and the Dutch parliament went offline, and the Port of Rotterdam went offline, and Finland and France and Denmark started pulling government sites, and Wikipedia went down, and Archive.org went down, and Asana and GOG and Something Awful went down, and the University of Vienna's webmail went down for some reason, and that's just PHP. Because GitLab also dropped a CVSS 10.0, which is the highest score they give out, for a bug that's been there since 2014, so that's every self-hosted GitLab for twelve years, and then LiteLLM 1.107.0 got hijacked and shipped a credential stealer and a remote access trojan in every single wheel and the Docker images, including latest, and you didn't even have to import it, just installing it was enough, and it's the second time this year, and then Railway paused every deployment on the entire platform because someone got into the environment variables, so now everyone has to rotate every secret they've ever stored there, and TiDB Cloud said someone was walking around inside with stolen credentials for basically a month and an extortion group says they took 10.6 terabytes, and Zeabur got breached for the second time in two months and is just shutting down, like the whole company, and Node.js patched remote code execution and a TLS bypass, and CISA says Plex is being actively exploited, and someone took over 300 Tor exit relays to steal SSH passwords, and SafePay ransomware has hit over 600 critical infrastructure orgs, and India's biggest bank filed a data loss incident, and Japan has been in an official state of emergency in cyberspace since October 9, which honestly explains the 5:55 AM post. Oh, and eMudhra, a certificate authority that's issued over 60 million certificates, whose entire job is proving websites are who they say they are, was supposed to be using private keys that are random numbers over a hundred digits long, and one of them was 4. Just 4. And the others were like 66 and 237. Anyway, it's Wednesday.
Railway too ? If you have a server running on Railway, take precautions and rotate your credentials immediately, as they may have been compromised. Remove any exposed secrets from Railway and revoke the affected API keys and tokens.
I received this message a few minutes ago, and Railway appears to be down as well.
Stay safe out there, guys. 🚨

Excited to share that Evolution has joined Nuvion @ournuvion 🚀
When we started Evolution, we had a simple vision: make moving money across borders easier and more accessible for individuals and businesses, enabling them to go Global from wherever they were.
We believed that accessing global financial services shouldn’t be complicated simply because of where you live or where your business operates.
What started as a platform for exchanging digital assets grew into something much bigger. We built infrastructure that enabled people and businesses to hold multiple currencies, receive international payments, move money across borders, and access financial tools that were previously out of reach.
Along the way, we served thousands of users, processed millions of dollars in transactions, and learned firsthand what it takes to build financial infrastructure in emerging markets.
But more importantly, we saw just how much work remains to be done.
As we continued building, one thing became increasingly clear: solving cross-border banking challenges at scale requires more than a great product. It requires strong financial infrastructure, regulatory reach, and the ability to serve businesses wherever they operate.
That’s what makes this next chapter with Nuvion particularly exciting.
Nuvion is building an AI Powered Global banking platform for ambitious businesses, bringing multicurrency accounts, international payments, FX, virtual cards, and stablecoin infrastructure together in one place.
Our visions have always been closely aligned, and joining forces gives us the opportunity to pursue what we started at Evolution on a much larger scale.
For me, this is an opportunity to take everything we’ve learned building Evolution and apply it to something with the infrastructure, reach, and ambition to serve businesses around the world.
I’m especially excited that members of the Evolution team are continuing this journey with me at Nuvion. We’ve spent years building, solving difficult problems, and learning together. Now we get to bring that experience into a much bigger mission.
To everyone who believed in Evolution, our early customers, investors, partners, community, and the incredible people who contributed to our journey: thank you.
You trusted us when we were still figuring things out, challenged us to build better, and helped turn an idea into a real business.
I’m incredibly proud of what we built, and even more excited about what comes next.
Evolution was never just about building another fintech company. It was about making global banking accessible for the people and businesses who need it.
That mission continues at Nuvion.
The Job is just starting
This is already stressful as it is, but as you said, it’s the nerdy way. Imagine doing this on mobile or trying to download videos. 😭
I use savefrom.net for both videos and pictures. It’s super easy!

LayerFS is a Rust-powered filesystem for AI agents, enabling zero-copy workspace branching, deduplicated snapshots, parallel rollouts, and efficient state recovery.
I started listening to this System Design podcast a few months ago, and it’s been one of the best investments I’ve made in myself this year. My understanding of software architecture and optimization has improved massively.
In a world where AI can write code, your edge is knowing how to design systems and solve problems. 🤷♂️
