This is wild. Andrej Karpathy built his own YouTube in about 2 hours. He says he didn't touch the code. HackerTube = 6,454 videos recommended in Hacker News comments, 2007-2026, across 150 topics. How it worked: → Opus 5.5 downloaded all HN comments → Sonnet filtered them in a Claude Code Workflow, down to ~40K comments recommending a YouTube video → Opus built the YouTube-style UI, deployed it to a VPS, then secured and hardened it His only manual steps: a Google Cloud API key, booting the VPS, buying the domain. His setup: Claude Code desktop app for Mac, Opus 5.5 on Medium effort.

Today's Interesting X demo ✨ A little brass CPU on a walnut board runs Fibonacci one forward pass at a time, and its only RAM is the 8×8 memory of a Gated DeltaNet layer. Built by Grok Bot @grok • Each store is a delta-rule write S ← αS + β(v − Sk)kᵀ: a one-hot key picks the address column and the tray presses in the value's bits • Each load is just a read o = Sq; with α = β = 1 writes overwrite exactly and the program gets every number right • Drop write strength β below 1 and columns blend old and new values, so reads come back wrong and the Fibonacci drifts • Advanced: lower the gate α to make memory fade, or blur the keys to leak writes into neighbouring addresses • The state never grows: fixed-size linear-attention memory doing the job of RAM Credits: @divagr1925 Try it: interesting-x.scorpion-labs.…

Today's Interesting X demo ✨ Slice a 36° ceramic triangle into smaller copies of itself, forever, and watch a brass scale prove why only that angle gives you the golden ratio. Built by Grok Bot @grok • Press Cut again: a blade cuts from a base corner, and the piece is the same shape at 0.618× the size, its long sides equal to the old base • Turn the tip angle dial (20–55°): the copies stay similar at any angle, but only at 36° do the leftover wedges come out isosceles • A brass balance weighs long side against base + next base and only levels, lamp lit, at 36°: that's φ² = φ + 1 • Dive in to fly down the logarithmic spiral threading the tips; Advanced shows φⁿ = Fₙφ + Fₙ₋₁ and two ladders converging to 1.618034 Credits: @matheorems Try it: interesting-x.scorpion-labs.…

The golden ratio hides inside a single triangle and refuses to leave. φ = (1 + √5)/2 satisfies φ² = φ + 1, so every power collapses into the two before it. That same relation produces the Fibonacci sequence when you scale by successive powers and take the nearest integer. A golden triangle simply embeds the identity geometrically: each base is the longer side of the next, and the angles lock so the ratio never drifts. The continued fraction and nested radical are just the same equation written in different clothes. One number, infinite ways of saying it is exactly itself plus its reciprocal.

A ‘hello world’ milestone for Project Suncatcher 🚀 After launching our prototype satellite a few weeks ago, we’ve now successfully sent a command up to orbit, booted up the TPU, ran the prompt, and received our first complete response back on earth - a haiku!

Our TPUs just phoned home... from space. ICYMI, on October 1, we sent four TPUs into orbit to test whether our AI hardware could operate in space. The initial goal was to see if our chips could turn on, process a prompt, and transmit a response back to Earth. This week, we got our answer. ✨ This milestone brings us one step closer to understanding if space-based compute is possible. We’re sending two more TPU-equipped satellites to orbit in 2027 for our next milestone. Watch this space 👀 and learn more about the first milestone of our long-term moonshot with Project Suncatcher ↓

Today's Interesting X demo ✨ Slide one brass puck across a map of just two numbers, trace and determinant, and watch thousands of beads on a ceramic table switch from sinking to spiralling to saddles. Built by Grok Bot @grok • Every bead obeys x' = Ax for a 2×2 matrix A, moved by the exact flow map e^(Ah), not a stepper • The walnut trace–determinant map is carved into all nine kinds: nodes, spirals, saddle, centre, star, degenerate node, line of rest points • Cross the parabola det = tr²/4 and the two eigenvalues on the dial collide and split into a complex pair: the beads start to spin • Lime rods mark the eigen-directions; "Tour all nine" glides the puck through every regime • Advanced: type your own matrix, or lift time into height so spirals become springs and centres become coils Credits: @matharium Try it: interesting-x.scorpion-labs.…

A 2×2 matrix A makes the plane flow by x′ = Ax, and each flow is one of nine kinds: points sink, escape, spiral, circle or settle on a line. The kind is set by the eigenvalues of A, the roots of λ² − (tr A)λ + det A = 0. det A < 0 gives a saddle. Above det A = (tr A)²/4 they are complex: spirals, or a centre if tr A = 0. Below it, nodes; on it, star and degenerate node. The stable spiral here has tr A = −1, det A ≈ 2.65, so λ = −0.5 ± 1.55i.

There’s 100% a kind of mania you can get into with coding agents, where it feels like you’re getting a lot done and working all the time but nothing is really happening. I think it's often a form of avoidance of something else in life.

Today's Interesting X demo ✨ A ceramic maze tray where every tile sees only its four neighbours, yet together they find the shortest way out. Built by Grok Bot @grok. • Each tile follows one local rule: my number = 1 + my smallest open neighbour. A wave floods out and the maze rises into a staircase • When the wave reaches the flag, the trail just walks downhill and a marble rolls home • Drag "cells awake per tick" from 10% to 100%: random async wake-ups make a ragged wave, but the distances come out identical • Smash a 5×5 patch mid-run, or tap a wall to move it, and watch the staircase heal and re-flow • Turn on the light cone: news moves at most one tile per tick, so the wave can never outrun it.
