Finance called IT because a customer owed us $240,000 and nobody could find them.
Customer name: TEST CUSTOMER DO NOT USE.
I recognized it immediately.
I created that account two years ago to test our billing software.
It had a fake address.
A fake phone number.
The contact email was [email protected].
Apparently Sales found the account last quarter and used it to demonstrate our new quoting system.
Someone accidentally converted the demonstration quote into a real order.
That triggered an invoice.
The invoice went unpaid.
Our collections software sent seven payment reminders to [email protected].
Nobody responded.
Finance escalated the account to a debt collection agency.
The agency spent three weeks trying to locate TEST CUSTOMER DO NOT USE.
They reported the company had no registered address, no employees, and no known assets.
Finance classified the account as high-risk.
Yesterday Legal asked me for the customer's original contract.
I explained there was no customer.
They asked whether we could prove that.
I said I personally invented the company.
Legal said that wasn't sufficient documentation.
Apparently writing "DO NOT USE" in the customer name doesn't legally establish that the customer doesn't exist.
We're now paying $8,000 for an external auditor to determine whether a company I made up owes us $240,000.
Finance has asked me not to delete the account until the investigation concludes.
It's our third-largest customer this quarter.

"Jugend, Zukunft, Sozialismus"
Nix hier - ick will nach Berlin! Bitterfeld - da is schön!
Was dann dort mit Dir passiert?

🥳🤩 ALSO NICHT JAMMERN! GENIESST EINFACH, WAS IHR GEWÄHLT HABT! 🤩🥳🥹😂

Berlin’s would-be mayor will not put her own family in danger. Yours she will, as long as it pays.
Elif Eralp led the Left Party to first place in Berlin’s September election and wants to govern the city. This week she gave an interview to Der Spiegel, Germany’s leading news magazine, and her office sent back the checked transcript with her internal notes still in it by mistake. She had struck out a question about a Hamas sympathiser who turned up at her party’s election night. Her note explained that she and her husband are afraid of these people: “I cannot put myself and my family in danger for Der Spiegel.”
Many read this as proof of a pact between leftists and Islamists. That gives her far too much credit for planning. To me her note is further proof of something more ordinary and more devastating: politics.
Eralp is a typical politician. She knows exactly how dangerous these people are, or she would not fear them. Berlin’s security authorities are already assessing the threat to her. Nobody assesses the threat to your family at the next Christmas market. Politicians like her cover for and prop up dangerous people all over the country, and the danger does not go away: it is socialised, and other families carry it. That is perfectly fine with her, as long as it serves her own ends: a higher salary and more status, collected in the name of the “oppressed” and the “poor”.
This is the business model of politics: privatise your own safety and socialise the danger. Eralp’s only mistake was forgetting to delete her comments.

Alright....so we are back to Specter Maximalism again?
2of3 Multisig with multiple different devices.
Each key stored in a reasonably secure location.
here's my AI cybersecurity apocalypse white pill.
I've been fixing bugs in leftover human code non-stop for over a year now. literally cleaning up years of human slop.
at the same time, i've been building fully AI-written complex software which I regularly review with AI the same way that I'm reviewing the human code.
the difference is like day and night. good models don't just find the bugs, they also produce far fewer bugs.
the difference between a big project written exclusively by modern frontier models and one written by a dozen engineers is just incredible.
all those little obscure mistakes that humans overlook are mostly absent. if you take care of your project, the code quality can be great and there's almost no accumulation of weird edge cases that sneak in inevitably over the course of multiple years of working on a code base with a team of humans.
makes me very optimistic about the future.

The @SpecterDIY on S tear🔥
🔥 I ranked 21 Bitcoin signers.
5 years in the shadows: testing hardware wallets, watching Bitcoin Twitter, following every hack, every bug, every vendor drama.
This is where I landed, & some of you won't like it.
My criteria:
🔓 Open code you can verify
📵 Air-gap: QR or microSD over USB, Bluetooth or NFC
🧱 Security model: secure element, stateless or smartcard
📜 Track record, and how the vendor reacts when things break
🔁 Standard backups (BIP39, PSBT, descriptors): no lock-in
🟥 S TIER
Open code, minimal trust in a vendor, and for most of them you can build or flash it yourself. The less you have to trust, the higher it goes.
🟧 A TIER
Serious, Bitcoin-focused tools. You trust the vendor more than in S, and you get polish in return. Yes, Coldcard stays in A after July's entropy bug. The transparent fix and migration guide count too.
🟨 B TIER
Good tools, each with a trade-off: a server in the security model, a newer approach still proving itself, a phone in the loop, or multi-coin roots.
🟩 C TIER
Multi-coin first, Bitcoin second.
⬜ D TIER
Closed code, or recovery models where a company holds part of the keys to your castle.
Now the twist: no signer is the best in the absolute. The right one depends on YOUR threat model. A ranking expires. A method doesn't.
That's the whole idea behind chapter 23 of Bitcoin Hodler: Choosing Your Signer. 📖
Where would you move one device? 👇

...long live hardware wallets!
There is just no other better solution for normies for now.
I largely agree that hardware wallets are dead - but I think the answer is an ultra secure, open architecture hardware security platform where bitcoin & crypto features are simply APPS that users can choose to install.
My goal is to scale @FoundationHQ to general purpose security applications for consumers and enterprise.

Signing copies of Digital Real Estate at @LuganoPlanB, next to the Mempool Stage, until 3:30 PM. Come say hi!
For heaven sake, we're not fully cooked ... yet.
Replying to @BitmundFreud
Not fully cooked. PHP2Shell (CVE-2026-109618/109619) is a real critical unauth RCE in the PHP runtime itself, AI-found, patched Oct 21. Millions of probes hit, some pre-disclosure, but no confirmed widespread successful breaches or bank/DB takeovers yet—mostly failed or crashing attempts. Japanese banks paused services preemptively.
The “rough agents” are mostly user-credentialed third-party AI tools banks are now blocking/restricting (JPMorgan, BofA, etc.). Concurrent risk, not pure PHP fallout.
Patch or isolate anything still on vulnerable PHP. Long tail of old installs remains the real exposure.

Now @_polto_ from the Specter Association makes @Schnuartz case for air-gapped signing
He highlights why separating communication channels matters for hardware wallet security.
Using microSD cards for firmware updates and QR codes for signing keeps these processes isolated, reducing shared attack surfaces.
Combined with open standards and interoperability, air-gapped devices may aleo reduce dependence on manufacturer-controlled companion apps, avoiding another potential single point of failure.
Worrying about AI reviewing code or people contributing vibed code to OSS projects is absolutely the wrong kind of worrying.
First of all, you should worry about human created code which is NOT reviewed by AI!
