Sanctioning Rwanda is an important step toward ending Kagame's brutal invasion of Congo. Europe's inaction on this subject risks damaging its already limited credibility on the world stage.

We welcome the new round of sanctions. Nevertheless, unless the United States takes direct punitive action against Rwanda's President @PaulKagame and his new head of M23, former DRC President Joseph Kabila, the Kagame-Kabila-M23 trio will continue to violate the Washington Accords.
There is no reasoning with President Kagame, and we stand with hawks who believe President @realDonaldTrump needs to take the fight directly to Kagame by initiating devastating sanctions, including Global Magnitsky sanctions against Kagame and his family.
Global bank account and asset freezes and forfeitures, along with global travel bans targeting Kagame, his family, and close associates, should be the starting point. These measures should be followed by international arrest warrants for corruption and misappropriation of public funds. Unless #Kagame and #Kabila are directly targeted, this war will never end.

We extend our sincere congratulations to President @POTUS @realDonaldTrump for sanctioning Rwanda for the crimes it continues to commit in the eastern DRC, in defiance of the Washington agreements. @SecRubio @marcorubio @StateDept @USAmbUN @US_SrAdvisorAF @USUN
Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control imposed sanctions on the Rwandan Ministry of Defence and Zigama Credit and Savings Society, a Rwandan financial institution that has played a key role in facilitating Rwanda’s support for the March 23 Movement and its political wing, the Congo River Alliance.

Robert Kabera, a former Rwandan army sergeant major who was an outspoken critic of President @PaulKagame, has been found beheaded. Our condolences are with his family. When America forgets that it is the leader of the free world, defenders of liberty are murdered.
Many people in D.C. have asked why we stand with the people of the #DRC against Rwandan President @PaulKagame, and our answer is simple: President Kagame is the embodiment of evil, and the good people of the DRC and President #Tshisekedi are the only ones currently standing up to this evil.
While Europeans and businesses like Formula 1 (@F1), which just signed an agreement with #Kagame’s Rwanda, are apparently prepared to look the other way, the United States must stay true to democracy and the rule of law and hold President Kagame and his associates accountable.

There is one central reason President @PaulKagame and former DRC President Kabila are working against the DRC, and it is called money. To be more specific, the #DRC’s vast mineral wealth. The shocking thing is that, as we have seen before, they are prepared to kill thousands, if not millions, of innocent Congolese fathers, mothers, and children to get it.
As the death toll rises, disease and hunger spread, and millions become refugees, the crisis will become a problem for Congress and President @realDonaldTrump. The world will once again turn to the U.S. for humanitarian relief and refugee resettlement. It would save lives and cost far less for the U.S. to go after Kagame and #Kabila now than to deal with the catastrophe they will unleash.

The long-held plan to destabilize the DRC and kill President Félix Tshisekedi is now out in the open. In December 2025, we said this: “We should not fool ourselves. In Kagame’s mind, his objective remains the destabilization of the #DRC and the political destruction of President Tshisekedi.”
President @PaulKagame, former President Kabila, and M23 are one and the same. President Tshisekedi is a target because he refused to go along with a plan to continue the exploitation of the DRC’s natural resources. The U.S.–DRC Minerals Partnership made him an even bigger target; America's enemies want us out of the #DRC.
Kagame and #Kabila have spat in the face of the U.S. too many times, and we must respond with legislative and military measures to protect the Congolese people and safeguard our national security interests. The U.S. must declare open war against Kagame and Kabila and make it clear that if they proceed with this course of action, it will not end well for them.

We cannot deny the DRC government (@Presidence_RDC) the weapons and military resources it needs to defend itself against President @PaulKagame's terrorist proxies, only to turn around and condemn the DRC for struggling to defend its sovereignty with limited resources. That is not sound foreign policy. That is setting up an allied nation for failure.
The security of the DRC is in the national security interests of the United States. President #Kagame’s friends in Moscow and Beijing are waiting for the DRC to fall. This cannot be allowed to happen. President @realDonaldTrump brilliantly demonstrated the value of U.S. military assistance in Nigeria. It is time to extend that commitment to the DRC.
This is the time for a U.S.–DRC defense partnership. The U.S. should train and arm a first-class DRC defense force to defend its sovereignty. Someone is providing high-tech weapons to #Kagame’s proxies, undermining U.S. strategic interests. An attack on the DRC is an attack on the U.S. critical minerals supply chain. The sooner we realize this, the better.
