🚨Shameful self-promotion alert 🚨 In my other life I'm a writer, and I’m working on a thriller series. I’ve just published the first eBook and I'm trying to spread the word, so if you could share widely I'd be forever grateful 😊
It's finally here… “If they treat you like a monster, how long until you become one?” The Killing Saga begins with The Killing Complex, a fast-paced survival thriller, now available for free or minimal charge books2read.com/thekillingcom… #indieauthors #WritingCommunity

Hi #pwME who also have POTS, has anyone got recommendations for compression garments for the chest that were tolerable and beneficial?

The world's first genomic study into ME, or Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, has been announced. Researchers are hoping that by building a genetic map of the illness, it will help pave the way for a future diagnostic test and even treatments. But charities have warned that there is more to do and this must only be the start.

Let us talk about the "be as active as possible without triggering PEM" that has recently been perpetuated again - in a Nature publication no less. I used to be a marathon runner, so I'll use this example to illustrate my point. 1/

Any pwME happy to share their experiences?
Q for #pwME who have given birth (while diagnosed with ME). Which kind of birth (vaginal birth or C-section) would be most tolerable for pwME? (As tolerable as these things can be!!)

This tweet of mine from two years ago seems to have been picked up again. Two years on and I've had the privilege of in-depth interviews with pwME as part of my PhD, covering decades of their experiences. The sentiment of this tweet remains concrete.
Replying to @karenphysiocouk
I have NEVER – EVER – had to encourage someone with ME to do more. I always – ALWAYS – have to persuade them to do LESS. To stop a favourite activity. To adjust a task to lessen the effort.

When I see medical "professionals" talking about fear avoidance and deconditioning I think... Gosh, you've never really talked to anyone with ME, have you?

Maybe it initially it could have seemed like a good idea to keep Long Covid and ME separate, but we’re making a mistake by not responding to the research indicating a prevalent subgroup of post Covid ME because ME is a major potential confounder of treatment responses.

This is beyond comprehension. How can they clinically justify anything they are doing? This feels criminal.
Update: Feeling unsafe Savannah self-discharged & left QEH in a private ambulance. Even with the CEO of a national charity advocating in person, Guy’s refused to admit her. After waiting over two hours in the ambulance, she was forced to return to QEH. gofundme.com/f/severemergenc…

Not making training mandatory of a condition that has low awareness results in no one: a) knowing they need to do the training b) bothering to do the training Who knew! (We all did - and fed back as such)
FOI response shows uptake of ME/CFS e-learning from the government delivery plan: • Intro: 371 • Community care: 101 • Severe ME: <50 From a workforce of ~188k doctors & ~423k nurses This is the problem when training is “promoted” and not mandatory. skyview.social/?url=https%3A…

The e-learning wasn't made mandatory and this is a major issue. @thecsp how do we raise the profile of this essential learning to physiotherapists?

These are the stories we hear and why we formed to educate, advocate and research. Physios MUST have a baseline understanding of how to work safely with people who have ME or we risk causing significant harm. @thecsp
In the 90s a physio got me out of bed and made me walk down the road. She was very pleased with herself. 24 hrs later I couldn’t move or speak, breathing was an effort. The GP came, nothing to be done but I never saw that physio again. I very rarely spoke or got out of bed again
