I’m heartbroken to learn that a child in Lewis County has died from measles. My heart goes out to their family and everyone who knew and loved them.
This is New York’s first measles-related death in 30 years, a devastating reminder of what’s at stake when Washington deliberately erodes decades of progress in protecting Americans from preventable diseases.
Vaccination remains our best protection against the heartbreak of another family losing a child to measles.

The masterful political interview by @andersoncooper employs some great techniques: 1) don’t get goaded into sidebars 2) make it clear they haven’t answered the question 3) keep asking the question you want to have answered 4) and crucially, don’t fill the silence.

Huge respect to @AbdulElSayed for this calm, measured answer. He didn't take the bait at all and stayed focused on the core message. Not easy in a heated situation like this, that is for sure...
Q: Do you believe Haley Stevens is hurting the ticket?
El-Sayed: I have much respect to the congresswoman. We had a hard fought primary. That primary ended in August. I'm focused now on beating Mike Rogers. I hope that every Democrat, frankly, I hope that everybody who's worried about the state of our democracy, worried about the ability to afford gas and groceries, worried about ending illegal wars or ending tariff wars is with me in that fight.
A White candidate from Detroit’s historically segregated suburbs attempting to use Black voters as cover. It looks small.

Stevens says she’s for investing in Black owned businesses. “And that’s the policy that Mike’s going to take on,” Stevens says.

How cynical.
If Haley Stevens had gotten just a few more votes in the primary, @MikeRogers would be running her through his wood chipper right now for coddling immigrants, and criminals and all the golden oldies Republican candidates are counting on in this election to distract from an unpopular president, rising costs and a senseless war that has sent prices soaring.
But, man, Mike just loves and honors Haley today!
My recommendation to Haley? Don't inhale.
Representative Haley Stevens is a courageous leader who deserves the respect of every Michigan voter. She has conducted herself with nothing but class since the Democratic primary, a primary where a majority of voters did not vote for her party’s nominee.
She was absolutely right to call on Abdul El-Sayed to denounce the Rebellion PAC ad and she was right to call on him to apologize for espousing the same hateful ideology behind it.
Representative Stevens’ statement expressed a hope that Abdul El-Sayed “had heard the deep concerns of the Jewish Community.” It is as shameful as it is disappointing that his response to her clearly shows that he does not care about those concerns.
In her statement, the Congresswoman says, “ the Jewish and African-American communities of my district deserve to have someone show up for them, rather than fight over them.”
I agree with her and my campaign is about being there, showing up and defending these communities and all Michiganders.

This is the single most unproductive, selfish thing a Democratic candidate has done all cycle and likely many cycles before that.
Having misjudged candidates in the past myself, I hope everyone who tried to recruit, support, and defend Haley can now admit what a mistake it was.

The decision by the television outlets not to participate in the White House pool today in response to Trump's self-declared "ban on the free press" will leave the most TV-addicted president in our history without major network cameras recording his every utterance and movement.
