Go vote, Illinois! ...and Teddy has a not-so-subtle suggestion on who you should vote for.

No matter who you vote for, go vote! Only one week left. Of course, Carolyn and I hope you'll vote for us. You have an opportunity this election to send a message that you want better in the future: better candidates, better politics, better governing. That's what you're saying when you vote for us. We all wish the major parties gave us candidates for Illinois Governor to vote for. But they didn't. Don't let that stop you from voting. Go vote Independent for Governor, then stick around and vote for candidates in other races that have proven to be independent leaders.

The average Illinois family pays nearly a quarter million dollars in property taxes in their lifetime. This is the highest in the Midwest...and the highest in the country, outside of the Northeast. The cost of living is too expensive in Illinois, and at the top of the list is property taxes. Yet instead of solving the problem, JB Pritzker just points fingers. We have a plan to lower property taxes in Illinois. In fact, we're the only campaign with a plan. Vote Independent for Governor and let's finally solve a problem the politicians have been talking about for decades.

I was on @MyStateline Friday, and the very first question: "Why should Illinois voters choose you over the two candidates with established party infrastructure and some governing experience?" Hear my answer to that plus common sense plans to lower costs for working families including property taxes, what I agree with Pritzker and Bailey on, how we get Illinois growing again to stop people from wanting to leave, ensuring the suburbs and downstate are represented in state government, how an Independent could govern, and why we need to fix DCFS.

A vote for me is more than just a vote for Governor. It's part of a long-term strategy to fix our broken politics. If the two major parties realize the threat posed by the Independent movement and come back to the mainstream, problem solved. If they don't, well, 1-2% of Americans leave the two-party system and become Independent every year. We'll continue to grow until the parties become obsolete. Either way, the middle finally gets represented. Candidates and politicians have to compete for our support again. And we bring common sense back to our politics and government.
