The @diversebooks Panel on Defending Intellectual Freedom was excellent. Librarians can feel isolated—hearing authors support us was so affirming. We will NOT self-censor + we will keep supporting + fighting for students, esp our most vulnerable communities! @ElloEllenOh #ALAAC23

A beautiful windy day for a Capitol tour w/ @RUSBLVD. Their own Rep @KathySteinhoff came up to meet one group & the other group got to see her bring an Amendment to the floor that was voted on & passed. Democracy in action! Remember Russell Ravens, YOU are the strong MO Bear!

Thank you CPS, Kerry Townsend, & our Media Specialists for the wonderful experience at Jesse Hall today. 7th graders across the entire district got to hear author, Johnnie Christmas, share his life stories on becoming an author & then how he writes graphic novels. Excellent job!

Going with our 5th graders to see @j_xmas was definitely a highlight of this whole month full of testing and so many other things. It gave the time to slow down for the morning and be grateful for amazing authors that bring stories to life! Grateful for this memorable experience – at Missouri, USA

Spent the afternoon with #cpsbest middle schoolers learning how @j_xmas approaches his writing his graphic novels. The students were enthralled by it! What a talent!
Thanks @UnboundBookFest and @theCPSF for this opportunity.

Do you have as many fond memories of summer reading clubs for you and your kids as I do? That's just one of SO MANY things that will be gone if the Senate follows the lead of the House to defund public libraries!

Missouri’s Republican-led House voted to cut all funding for libraries in its version of the state’s annual budget, an unprecedented move that has angered librarians and patrons across the state. to.pbs.org/3UBFd6S
