Roof framing efficiency relies on repeatable datum location and minimizing out of position rework, especially when operating on timber wall plates without a dedicated ground crew.
Smooth shank wire nails have terrible axial withdrawal resistance. especially when driven into unseasoned timber that shrinks as it dries. If you want a roof truss system that resists wind uplift and shear without splitting, look at structural timber screws and proper bearing joinery.

Nobody measures where bathroom hardware goes and it shows. Most towel bars and toilet paper holders get mounted wherever the installer’s tape measure happens to land. Once the tile is drilled, you can’t move them. Here are the exact mounting heights that actually work in real life: 1/ The Towel Bar 48"(1.2m)Off the Floor: Any lower and your bath towels drag, any higher and shorter people are stuck reaching. Mount it where you can grab a towel straight out of the shower. 2/ Robe & Towel Hooks 66" to 72" (1.68m to 1.83m) Off the Floor: Hooks need to go higher than you think so a long robe hangs completely clear of the ground. Put one right next to the shower within easy arm’s reach of the door. 3/ The Toilet Paper Holder 26" High / 8–12" Forward: Mount it 26 inches off the floor and 8 to 12 inches in front of the front edge of the toilet bowl. Too far forward and you’re leaning, too far back and you’re twisting around to reach it. 4/ The Pre-Tile Rule: Mark every single one of these spots on the wall before the tile goes up. Your accessories need to land cleanly on a grout line and anchor into solid wood blocking behind the wall. because once they’re up, there are no do overs.

If your interior design includes recessed led cove lighting, linear slot diffusers, or floor to ceiling windows, standard hand troweled screeding will fail visually. Grazing light magnifies even millimeter surface undulations into harsh shadows. Technique required to achieve a true wall finish.

This is what a controlled foundation lift looks like. After installing deep steel piers beneath the foundation, hydraulic pressure is applied to transfer the load and carefully recover the settled structure.

four things are killing homebuilding at the same time. > tariffs made materials more expensive > high interest rates made buyers disappear > immigration enforcement removed the labor force the industry runs on > capital that used to fund developments is now funding data centers and yet somehow the homebuilder is the one getting blamed for not building enough.

10 mistakes every new general contractor makes (based on what i've seen) 1. buying the image before building the business 2. relying entirely on referrals 3. saying yes to every job 4. taking a job that is too big, too soon 5. treating licensing and insurance as something to sort out later 6. mixing personal and business money 7. doing extra work on a handshake 8. hiring wherever the pain feels loudest 9. ignoring the gap between spending and getting paid 10. pricing without knowing the full cost did i miss anything?

Contractor or project manager. You are literally on your toes until the job is properly done.
