Our Viewpoint paper just got accepted at Journal of Neuroscience!
We show that there are actually *two* temporal "dimensions" to consider in visual perception and we discuss a method to disentangle them.

Our Viewpoint is now available online in the @SfNJournals Journal of Neuroscience!

Another preprint!
I played around with equations and propose some adjustments to Euclidean and correlation cross-validated distances, leading to increased reliability and accuracy, for RSA and beyond!

Many EEG features are commonly analyzed to characterize brain development. We showed that the latent distances between these features also differed between children and adults, and that they are much more robust to non-developmental factors.

Musical traditions across the globe exhibit extraordinary diversity, yet certain note collections transcend cultural boundaries.
What cognitive constraints might explain this? In 4 experiments across 1048 participants, we examine this question. (1/9)

This old preprint finally got accepted at Nature Communications! We visualize and characterize mental representations using human behavior. nature.com/articles/s41467-0…
Our preprint "Computational reconstruction of mental representations using human behavior" is finally out! 😊We developed a general framework to reconstruct many visual representations. psyarxiv.com/7fdvw [1/8]

Can we reconstruct images from brain activity? The @ykamit lab argues that recent work uses a non-diverse dataset, and with appropriate controls, performance breaks down completely. This has important implications for what we can learn from such datasets.

Month after month in 2023, global temperatures didn’t just break records, they surpassed them by far. Global temperatures started blowing past records midyear and didn’t stop.
2024 could be even warmer. bit.ly/3RUfOEo
Anyone else trying to submit to #VSS but cannot access the website?? Too many people submitting crashed the website??? @VSSMtg #VSS2024 #slightlypanicked

ALT Letter saying: Dear All, It is with enormous sorrow that we write to let you know that Dawoon (Sheri) Choi, a wonderful, beloved, and brilliant PhD graduate at UBC and postdoc at Yale died in New Haven, CT last Thursday (October 19) after experiencing a medical emergency while swimming. This is devastating beyond belief, and for those of you who were close to her, we are so sorry you are hearing it this way. Our hearts break for Sheri’s husband Nick, her family, and all of her friends at UBC, Yale, and beyond. In deep grief, Janet Werker and Nick Turk-Browne

It takes me so much time to read a paper… I am so jealous of English native speakers 😩
How hard is it to do science in a language that’s not your first language? We quantified the severity of #languagebarriers for non-native English speakers when reading/publishing papers and attending/presenting at international conferences.
