Deeply alarming that Novichok has again been used in an attempt to silence critics of the Russian state. The use of chemical weapons is illegal and barbaric. The international community must ensure that those who undermine our rules-based system cannot act with impunity.

There is a legend in #Belarus, that the national white-red-white national flag first appeared during a battle, when red blood of a knight ran over white cloth following his injury. He continued to fight. Minsk last night: red blood over white cloth.

Before the elections in #Belarus, I wrote that the social contract w/ Lukashenko was been terminated. After today, it seems much bigger than that. Ppl won’t respect law enforcement anymore. This is unprecedented in Belarusian history. Hard to overstate the consequences of this!
