SIR PATRICK STEWART (1940-2026)
Before everything else, Patrick was defined by being born and bred in Yorkshire, the proud county in the north of England which he loved to the end. You could hear it in his accented voice and in the stern honesty with which he told you what he thought and felt. Yorkshiremen have no truck with half-truths or avoidance of big issues. He wore his heart on his sleeve, which made him a man to rely on, to admire and in my case, love.
We first met as ambitious young actors with the Royal Shakespeare Company half a century ago but we weren’t in the same productions. My first strong memory was a few years later, meeting him in the street in central London when he told me about an offer to take over a leading part in 'Star Trek'. “But Patrick think of your stage career in the UK. Do you really want to risk—getting lost in Hollywood for years and years?”. Well, he took the risk and thank goodness for us all that he did for not just his devoted Trekkies but film and theatre audiences, who marvelled at his using international celebrity to star in a string of cinema successes ('X-Men' of course) and in great classical plays by Shakespeare, Ibsen, Arthur Miller, Peter Shaffer, Pinter and Beckett at Stratford-upon-Avon, in London’s West End and on Broadway.
America was his adopted home, where he met his adored Sunny who has cared for him through sickness and health, through thick and thin. But he never forsook his origins: and the proudest achievement of the most respected and beloved actor of his generation on either side of the Atlantic, was his appointment as Chancellor of Huddersfield University in Yorkshire.
His farewell performance in 'Avengers: Doomsday' is yet to be seen.

WAYNE might be as close to perfect of a show that exists. @netflix - don't drop the ball on this one - we need another season.

I'm not asking you to become a Republican. I'm asking you to look at your gas bill, your rent, and your kid's school, and ask if one more term of the same is the answer. Just try it this election! Vote for Hilton! Don’t let the R or D dictate your decision. Look at the facts 👊

There have been a lot of great ads this cycle --from Susan Collins, Mike Rogers, Michele Tafoya and others.
But the gold goes to @SteveHiltonx.
Full disclosure: I am a California refugee. I'd like to go back moire than a couple of months every other year.

FYI: You can be a registered DEMOCRAT and vote for REPUBLICANS.
You can be a registered REPUBLICAN and vote for DEMOCRATS.
F*CK THE PARTY LABELS.
Vote for YOURSELF. Vote for YOUR CITY. Vote for YOUR STATE.
Vote for the PERSON, not the LETTER next to their name.
You don’t owe ANY political party anything.

People who believe that a solution to life's problems is giving more tax money to the government are people who actually haven't dealt with real problems.
Small example: we had to get Starlink for our property and our vehicles because after government burned down all of the Palisades and Malibu, the utility infrastructure is still so bad, you end up with complete dead zones everywhere; I couldn't manage running a campaign like that. Because one industrialist built a rocket company years ago, we now have an option to directly bypass everyone else's failings while government spends the next 3 decades rebuilding.
All of my savvy neighbors who are rebuilding are investing in fire-defense sprinkler systems on their properties, aggressively managing the vegetation around their homes...they've learned that no matter how much you pay the government, they will not be there when you need them most, their incompetence will likely be the source of the emergency in the first place, and the best thing you can do is insulate yourself from their failures. They won't be there when the fire hits you backyard, they won't be there when the homeless drug zombie stabs you in the neck, but they certainly will be there if the IRS doesn't get their check.
Every smart person who has endured hardship in this country is hellbent on becoming more self-reliant, independent, and off the grid. We call that a clue.

Nithya Raman thinks voters are as dumb as she is. Here she is pretending as though homeless drug zombies aren't committing crimes, and aren't even doing drugs. OVER 90% OF LA'S HOMELESS ARE DOING HARDCORE DRUGS. This is a drug problem! It's not a housing problem. These are criminal drug users terrorizing our streets, and this absolute moron wants LESS policing. WTF are we doing?
WAYNE is finally available once more, now on Netflix. I’ve praised this show time and again @Simms2673 fucking nailed it… or whatever. I’d kill for a 2nd season.
@ciarabravo absolutely steals this show. She’s brilliant. I gotta cast her in one of our projects!

ABC News’ Jonathan Karl: “You told J.D. Vance you're open, your vote is up for grabs.”
Bill Maher: “Yes, my vote is in play because it can't be Trump running, so I'm not living in communist America. I mean, I know that the talking point is, it's not communism, it's socialism. OK. I've read the quotes from the DSA platform, from their own mouths. Don't tell me I'm now seeing what I am seeing. And DSA, again, they say things like, you know, takeover of key industries, government — that's communism. You know, there is a definition.”
I love California. I do NOT love what has happened here over the last 10 years. Cali deserves better.
I was a die-hard democrat who danced in the streets of LA when Biden won.
Today, I'm a recovering Democrat... and that's okay.
Bill Maher re: his dinner with President Trump: "Kid Rock (who set up the meeting) and I share a belief that there's gotta be something better than hurling insults from 3,000 miles away..."
The dude gets it. Both sides need to talk without hating each other every minute.
