DeSchutter’s spoken word skims like a thrown stone.” - The Wire Following the release of lead single “Floor Phlegm Hue” last month, our most recent signees, London-based experimental spoken word and electronics duo BAG (aka Jody DeSchutter and Daniel Allison), are back with another new track taken from their upcoming album. “Moth Ball” is steeped in disorienting sound design, as if drifting in from a delirious room next door. Its poetry arrives spliced and stuttered, never settling and always in motion. BAG draws from the outer edges of avant performance and the ecstatic spoken word of New York’s fertile early experimental scene, à la Laurie Anderson. As vocalist DeSchutter pushes into the rolling, roaring coda, traces of earlier morphemes re-emerge, skittering in crescendo through a haze of woozy string synthesis.
