Chennai Metro Phase II is very close to my heart. Have been watching its progress closely.
Tried creating a progress tracker map to track the girder completion works (for elevated sections) & tunneling works (for underground sections).

In short theatrics in positive and governance in negative.
Six months of Vijay Government.
Pluses and Minuses
Pluses:
1. Anti corruption measures: Good start but things are starting to fray. No action so far against any senior Govt official is a dampener.
2.Greater Transparency: Assembly live telecast, greater scrutiny of tenders etc.
3.Accessible Ministers: Ministers and MLA's easier to reach and mostly do not throw their weight around.
4. Existing schemes mostly continued with some name and cosmetic changes.
Minuses:
1. Law and Order: No major improvement
2. Non communicating CM is a significant issue
3.Infrastructure development: Policy paralysis on several issues. Dozens of Projects are stuck or in limbo. Scrapping Parandur airport, a disaster for the State, the new Secretariat location uncertainty etc. cause loss of confidence.
4. Power situation: Fragile with power outages.
5. Profligate welfarism with the slew of new freebies.
6. No clear vision for the State.
7. Industries Dept: Mostly on auto pilot. No proactive measures to get investment.
8. Across Departments lack of clarity on policy issues:
I am not adding the inexperience and the frequent bloopers of the Ministers.
Overall has "Maatram" or Change happened?
Mostly NO. There is a feeling that the CM needs to get his act together, get a better set of advisors for Governance issues (present lot can be his Political advisors). Expertise is in seriously short supply across the Government.
Discontent is already brewing against the TVK Govt. CM Vijay remains hugely popular but it will not be long before the lack of competence of his Government starts to affect his personal popularity.
Hope he seeks good counsel and better sense prevails.

Using AI on God mode requires building a system that watches you and builds automations so that you're never doing what an AI is able to do better.
If this sounds dystopian, sorry to break it to you but you're still stuck in a pre-AI mindset. Whether you like it or not, the world has changed. So instead of operating how-things-used-to-be, operate in the reimagine-everything mode as your bandwidth gets free from the mundane.

Stalin is being blamed for the lag of the 2010–2020 AIADMK decade. That period produced the largest number of engineers in the state’s history, but the talent was under-utilised because GCC growth stayed modest (~100–120 centres over 10 years).

The high-skill base that Chennai voters now take for granted was built over decades by Dravidian governments (especially DMK’s earlier education and IT push). Many who voted for Vijay in Chennai in 2026 are already beneficiaries of that longer foundation.

Justice N. Ramesh of #MadrasHighCourt while granting anticipatory bail to Chennai Corporation councillor D. Sudha in a case booked for having abused Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay said: “Police must serve the State, which endures, and not the party in government, which changes.”
Stating that the police seldom register cases against ruling party members, irrespective of the party in power, on the basis of complaints lodged by the opposition members, he wrote: “An even hand between the ruling party and its opponents is not a courtesy the police extend; it is a condition of their constitutional legitimacy.”
While not condoning the abusive language such as “dog” and “corpse” used by the Corporation Councillor against the Chief Minister, the judge said, “Those who hold high office in a Republic hold it on the term that they will be criticised, lampooned and, not rarely, abused. The office is not so fragile that a Ward Councillor’s invective at a party meeting can shake it, and the State diminishes the office it claims to protect when it answers words of that kind with the machinery of arrest.”
Refusing to impose a gag order on the councillor, he added: “A court that gags a politician as the price of liberty does indirectly what Article 19 (freedom of speech and expression) of the Constitution forbids the State to do directly. The petitioner’s volunteered undertaking to exercise restraint is recorded; it is her promise, not my condition.” @THChennai @the_hindu

Justice N. Ramesh of #MadrasHighCourt has expressed strong disapproval of the manner in which MIDS Associate Professor A. Kalaiyarasan was picked up by the police from his residence in the early hours on the basis of a fake Instagram post.
Though a Minister had acknowledged the lapse and the Chief Minister had met the victim in person, the judge said: “The grace shown at the end does not answer the questions being raised: On what verification were plainclothes officers sent to a citizen’s doorstep at dawn over a social media comment? And what action has followed against those who so acted?”
He went on to state: “An apology, however high its source, is not accountability, and a remedy that depends on the Chief Minister’s personal intervention is not a remedy at all. Secondly, that gentleman’s eminence secured his release within hours and an audience at the Secretariat; a common citizen with no access to power, taken at dawn on the same mistaken complaint, would have tasted the lock-up, the remand and the long road of a trial before anyone asked whether the account was even his.”
The judge also wrote: “The measure of a police force is not how it treats the eminent when the press is watching, but how it treats the unknown when nobody is watching. It is against that measure that the handling of political speech—this case included—falls to be judged.” @THChennai @the_hindu
