Remitly is stronger than ever. In 2025, we surpassed 9 million active customers, reached $75B in send volume, generated $1.6B in revenue (up 29% y/y), and achieved our first full year of sustained profitability.  We have scale, we’re rapidly growing, and we’re a growth company with no shortage of growth opportunities. From that position of strength, I’m announcing a leadership transition that I initiated through proactive, long-term succession planning. I’m stepping up into the role of Chairman of the Board. Sebastian J Gunningham will become our next CEO. As we look ahead to delivering the strategy outlined at our recent Investor Day, including expanding beyond global money movement to also serve customers in broader, more ambitious ways, this is the right moment to bring in a leader with deep product instincts, global operating experience, a hunger to leverage AI, and a track record of scaling platforms to serve hundreds of millions. Sebastian brings exactly that. He has built and operated global marketplace and payments businesses at Amazon at massive scale and led digital transformation at Santander. He pairs that experience with humility, rigor, and a deep commitment to customers. I’m not going far. I remain fully committed as one of Remitly’s largest shareholders. As Chairman, I will focus on long-term strategy, bringing a founder’s long-term perspective, and supporting Sebastian as he steps into the CEO role. I also plan to devote more time to additional board service and to cross-industry efforts where Remitly’s experience and platform can help address systemic challenges in global financial services. I have never been more optimistic about Remitly’s future. The full note that I sent to the Remitly Team and video are linked below. We’re just getting started.

I handed Archbishop Desmond Tutu a thank-you card in 2002, as he walked out of a room at Dartmouth. I was 20. I never expected a reply. He wrote back. By hand. "I am very impressed with what you have wanted to do & done in Nairobi & elsewhere in Kenya. God is proud of people such as yourselves who help God to achieve God's dream. Reach for the stars. Thank you & go on going on." He was in the US for a residency at Harvard and had come to campus to give a talk. I was part of a small group of students who got to meet with him afterward, and the card was all I had to offer... thanks, for inspiring me and for the enormous good he was doing in the world. He was one of the most beloved people on earth. I was a kid from Idaho. The Kenya he mentioned: I had spent time volunteering in East Africa, helping people get access to healthcare. What's uncanny is that he wrote those words seven years before I moved to Nairobi... which is where the idea that became Remitly was born. He saw a thread in my life long before I could see it myself. Archbishop Tutu passed away in 2021. His note is framed in my home office, and I think about it more now, not less. One of the busiest, most consequential people alive took five minutes to write back to a student... and I've carried those five minutes for 24 years. That was the lesson inside the lesson: the people with the least time and the least obligation to be generous often are anyway. In his words... go on going on.

Thank you to everyone who attended our FTA CEO Summit: #Fintech as the Catalyst for Innovation! It was inspiring to bring together leaders across the #fintech ecosystem—founders, investors, policymakers, and advocates—to discuss the future of finance. #Fintech is powering faster, cheaper, and more inclusive financial services for consumers, small businesses, and startups. This innovation doesn't happen in a vacuum and requires policies that keep pace, markets that reward responsibility, and leadership that doesn’t just react to change, but shapes it. Thank you to all our amazing speakers @immad of @mercury, @ryanking of @Chime, Sarah Levy of @Betterment, Sid Jajodia of @Revolut, @matt_oppy of @Remitly, @Ryan_Caldwell of @MX, @NYDFS Superintendent Adrienne Harris, and @FinancialCmte Chairman French Hill, and excellent emcee @peterrenton.
