We recently hosted a Capitol Hill briefing on how nutrition can address chronic disease, improve health outcomes, and reduce healthcare costs in the era of GLP-1s.
Watch highlights featuring @RepDavids, Dr. Maya Maroto, @bschermd, @DoctorTro, and Dr. Caroline Roberts.
New research found that estimated 10-year heart disease risk fell by 28% among adults with overweight or obesity after one year of ketogenic nutrition-focused telehealth care.

Today we introduce the Global Network for the Advancement of Metabolic Psychiatry, MetPsy, built for researchers and clinicians dedicated to advancing metabolic interventions in mental health.
MetPsy gives the global community one place to find collaborators, access shared best practices and training, and follow the latest research. It also offers funders a clear entry point to support the field as it moves from promising studies to clinical implementation.
The launch coincides with a $20 million grant from Baszucki Group to establish the McLean Center for Metabolic Psychiatry at @McLeanHospital, a member of Mass General Brigham. A defining initiative for the field, the Center will combine research, clinical practice, and specialized training to deliver metabolic approaches in psychiatric care at scale, a model we hope will set the stage for others to follow.
Our executive director Dr. Maya Maroto joined @DominicDAgosti2 and @victoria_field_ on The Metabolic Link podcast to discuss why it's so significant that the new Dietary Guidelines for Americans recognize lower carbohydrate approaches. Check it out:
What actually changed in the new Dietary Guidelines?
In this clip from The Metabolic Link, @victoria_field_ asks Dr. Maya Maroto, Executive Director of @metcoalition, whether the new language on lower-carbohydrate diets for people with certain chronic diseases is the landmark it appears to be. Dr. Maroto explains why the Coalition sees it as a first, and how it puts that language to work with Congress and the administration.
The Coalition for Metabolic Health is a national network of clinicians, researchers, policy experts, and advocates working to advance high-quality nutrition science and drive change across policy and clinical practice.
In the full episode of The Metabolic Link, they also explore:
• Why guideline changes can take years to reach school lunches and hospital menus
• How congressional report language turns into NIH research funding
• Why the Coalition keeps metabolic health bipartisan and accepts no food or supplement industry funding
• Why many dietitians remain cautious about ketogenic diets
• Whether carbohydrate restriction is affordable on a SNAP budget
