Antipsychotics are literally life-saving when patients are acutely manic and psychotic. They stop patients from banging their head, cutting their fingers off, and pulling out their eyes. I’ve seen it all.
Those who deny their efficacy just can’t imagine what they have never seen.

Jewish people are nine times more likely than Muslims to be victims of hate crime, Home Office data show.
The figures revealed that Jewish people faced hate crimes at a rate of 116.5 offences per 10,000 people last year compared with 13.3 per 10,000 for Muslims🔗

Humans are never superfluous.

It’s not entirely unprecedented. In scale, perhaps - but not in kind. Each new technological advance has caused some to tell others they’re now “superfluous” or similar. But they never were.
It’s never true. *The one thing that can’t be replaced is a person*.

In the UAE, antisemitism is a crime, not an opinion. Yes, not an opinion, as it seems to be treated these days in parts of the West. Zero tolerance for terrorists, and no calling terrorists "activists." If anyone has a problem with Muslims or Arabs, understand this clearly: THE UAE is DIFFERENT. And before lecturing the UAE about extremism, ask one question: has your own country even banned the Muslim Brotherhood? The UAE has.
To everyone questioning what happened on flydubai flight FZ1073 or rushing to conclusions: the UAE is not just another country in the Middle East. Here, no identity, nationality, religion, rank, or position stands above the law.
It’s well known that the UAE will not replace an investigation with speculation or evidence with conspiracy theories. The facts will come out through the proper investigation, transparently and without hysteria. And if any wrongdoing is established, those responsible will face justice.
The UAE has confronted terrorism and extremism for years, from ISIS and al-Qaeda to threats from Iran and its proxies. It is also one of the safest places in the world and the safest in the Middle East. The threats are understood. The dangers are understood. Security is built through vigilance, professionalism, preparation, and the rule of law.
And that is why the heroism of flydubai’s Indian pilot, Captain Smit Machchhar, has been recognised.
The flydubai pilot faced extraordinary danger and a potential catastrophe, and he showed courage when courage mattered most. His professionalism, sense of duty, and moral courage helped protect human life.
Training matters. Professionalism matters. Choosing the right people matters. Courage matters.
Every person found responsible for endangering innocent lives must be held accountable. Every person who helped save those lives deserves gratitude.
No collective blame.
No conspiracy theories.
No hatred against Arabs or Muslims.
No excuses for extremism.
Justice for those responsible. Honour for those who saved lives. Protection for everyone, regardless of who they are.
That is the UAE.
The UAE of law. The UAE of courage. The UAE of humanity.
And to all the antisemitic trolls: UAE-Israel relations continue to thrive, and on rainy days, friends stand together.
Easier said than done, but true 😊
Psychological maturity recognizes that shame is often relational.
When someone shames you, their reaction may not be entirely about you. It may be their own shame colliding with something in you that reminds them of what they fear, regret, reject, or have not yet accepted in themselves.
That does not mean every criticism is projection. We still need the maturity to listen, take responsibility, and examine our behavior honestly.
But shame is different from accountability. Accountability addresses what happened. Shame attacks who you are.
When someone tries to make you feel small, defective, or unworthy, pause before accepting their judgment as truth. Ask yourself:
Is this useful feedback—or is someone else’s unresolved shame being placed on me?
Psychological maturity means being willing to look at yourself without defensiveness, while also refusing to carry shame that does not belong to you.
Sometimes the healthiest response is:
“I can reflect on my behavior without accepting your shame as my identity.”

HERO PILOT, Captain Smit Machchar, stabbed mid-flight on flydubai FZ1073, reportedly FOUGHT OFF the co-pilot and helped save 174 people.
One year ago he talked about how people often don't treat the cabin crew properly.

Yeah. That.

Unlike @AbdulElSayed, I’m an Arab who is actually from Israel. My family lived through the establishment of the state of Israel and what he calls the “Nakba.” The Holocaust was nothing like the events of the “Nakba” where my grandfather was told to flee by Arab leaders (not Jews) so the Arabs could “defeat the Jews.” He refused, and all the Arab residents who stayed were given citizenship. Those who fled, a large number by choice, were not permitted to return, as often happens in war. That is a catastrophe, a “nakba” of their own making. But there was no choice in the Holocaust, there was no citizenship for those who stayed. You are intentionally comparing a war and a genocide. They are not the same.
Your vile attempt to co-opt the largest massacre of the Jewish people in history, the systematic murder of six million people simply because they were Jews, for your own dystopian pro-terror Muslim Brotherhood agenda is despicable. I see through you Abdul. You may be able to fool Western Americans with your garbage, but we know who you really are.

Great article by a fellow Popperian.
And,
YES!!!!!
People pay lip service to Darwin, honestly think they agree with him, but don’t.
They don’t realize that he (and therefore Popper) were right. All knowledge/organization, beyond the laws of physics, is EVOLVED!
“Admittedly, it’s often hard going. I find that even intelligent, well-educated people—people who accept without question that Darwinian evolution accounts for the emergence of order in the biological world—nevertheless find it hard to imagine any alternative to intelligent design when it comes to things like human technology and human institutions.”
"Free people make a lot of mistakes, but—as long as [they] acknowledge and take responsibility for their mistakes—that is a good thing. The more mistakes we make, the more opportunities we have to learn."

People have no idea how dangerous even a little bit of cannabis use is in those with any predisposition to mental illness.
Usually, our patients figure it out the hard way…. and sometimes they never do.
