Yes, apparently you can be charged with BEATING your ENTIRE FAMILY in Harris County, take an online course, and walk away with the case ENTIRELY DISMISSED.
Meet "Texas man" Atamvir Singh...
In 2012, records show he was arrested for INJURY TO A CHILD.
The charge was dismissed. His punishment?
A parenting class.
In 2017, he was charged with assaulting a family member.
In 2025, he was charged with CONTINUOUS violence against his family.
BOTH dismissed.
Both times, he agreed to take anger management classes.
Just months after that last class, he was charged with continuous family violence AGAIN.
In May, it took a lengthy STANDOFF with sheriff’s deputies to take him into custody.
Four cases.
Thirteen years.
ZERO convictions.
You think that's bad?
Well, meet Shane Garrett.
He got his family violence charge dismissed after he DONATED to the Houston Food Bank.
Months later, he was charged with assaulting a family member AGAIN.
Last year alone, 713 domestic violence charges in Harris County were dropped through these "class deal".
The course materials simply tell violent men to watch an “anger meter,” take a timeout, and breathe slowly.
When asked if a class is appropriate punishment for someone accused of beating their spouse, District Attorney Sean Teare said it "depends" on the case.
When asked if the classes even work when people keep reoffending, his answer was that prosecutors don’t have crystal balls.
Meanwhile, the victims go home to the same house.

Byron Donalds in Florida and John James in Michigan are seeking to become their states’ first Black governors.
You would think the people who constantly accuse Republicans of racism would celebrate this historic possibility, even if they disagree with these men’s politics.
But apparently, representation only counts when someone votes Democrat!
When Black conservatives refuse to follow the Democratic Party, they are mocked, dismissed as inauthentic, and accused of betraying their community.
Black Americans are not political property. We have the freedom to think independently, choose our own political values, and support whichever candidates we believe in.
Political independence should be celebrated, not ridiculed!

This morning started with heartbreak after waking up to find my van broken into, two windows shattered, and two lawnmowers stolen. For a moment, I thought I wouldn’t make it to the Louisiana Book Festival. But I reminded myself that one bad moment doesn’t have to ruin an entire day. Despite everything, I made it! Standing here surrounded by the five children’s books I’ve worked so hard to bring to life means more to me today than ever before. They may have taken my lawnmowers, but they couldn’t take my joy, my purpose, or my determination. Thank you to everyone who reached out with love and encouragement. Today, I’m choosing gratitude over frustration. ❤️
