What a great photo! Tyrone Power and his wife went to see Charles and Elsa on stage in The Party in 1958, then met up with them backstage. Love this.

This 1960 review of Elsa's one-woman show mentions a song called 'He's Nice, He's Clean, He's British'. @sluggermartini would love to include it in her show but we can't find any other reference to it, unfortunately.

In 1934 Elsa was included in a whole bunch of publicity photos for The Private Life of Don Juan alongside Douglas Fairbanks, Benita Hulme, Merle Oberon and Binnie Barnes. But she's not in the film. Alexander Korda just used her to keep on good terms with Charles.

Yesterday @sluggermartini and I visited 15 Percy Street, which has an @EnglishHeritage blue plaque for Charles Laughton but not one for Elsa Lanchester, so we added our own. (NB. This now a shoe shop and they don't like people taking photos!)
The Scene-Stealer Strikes BIG time!
"Miss Lanchester is truly delicious with her mad pace and her wild, eccentric laugh. A leg on somebody's "Oscar" is won by her with this role." - Bosley Crowther, New York Times Film Critic, April 22, 1948

Elsa and Charles with Ruth Gordon on a trip to the 1940 World's Fair in New York, where Charles was looking to buy some modern furniture. Not seen this pic before - found it in @NYPL_Archives
