One valuable lesson I’ve learned from #MMT is that, for nations like US et al that issue their own free floating non convertible fiat currency, it’s not about finding the $; it’s about how best to manage available resources.

I've actually used these, you don't need to be old but if you're under retirement 60, you pay a little bit more

China now has 82,000 senior canteens serving over 4 million elderly people every day!
Fresh, balanced meals average about 2 dollars, with extra help for those who need it!
They sit inside neighborhoods so seniors can eat together, or get delivery when they cannot leave home!
This is what happens when a country invests in caring for its people!

The question here is - does Rachel actually know she's talking complete nonsense or does she believe it? Money that doesn't exist?? Issuing public or private credit creates money, a fact confimed by that wacky fringe anarcho-commie organisation called the Bank of England.
“Next year he actually has to find the money that doesn’t exist.”
“There are things the Government can do that aren’t just about tax.”

The reason is a debt that France cannot backstop on its own.
France is getting downgraded by every major rating agency at once, and the reason is a deficit it cannot control.
France has blown through the EU's 3% deficit limit every year for the better part of a decade. It hit 9% of GDP in 2020 and still runs around 5.5%, and the government's big new plan is to get the deficit down to 5% by 2027. They are calling that progress.
All five agencies, Fitch, Moody's, S&P Global, DBRS and Scope, have cut France, several of them below AA for the first time in modern history. When a core economy treats a 5% deficit as an achievement, the bond market stops giving it the benefit of the doubt. France is the test case for every government that runs deficits forever.

In 1975, George Harrison was photographed by Terry O’Neill at Friar Park, the extraordinary estate he had purchased five years earlier.
By then, the former Victorian garden had been transformed into an almost fantastical world of grottoes, ponds, sculptures, gardens, and secret nooks. Harrison devoted years to restoring it and came to regard gardening as a form of contemplation.
The estate also inspired his music. On the album All Things Must Pass, he included “Ballad of Sir Frankie Crisp (Let It Roll),” dedicated to the former owner who had created that unique Victorian universe. Over time, Friar Park became an inseparable part of Harrison’s identity. Years later, he would simply describe himself as “a gardener.”

The only place it CAN come from. The same place every dollar spent comes from: computer keystrokes that credit the bank accounts of those receiving payments. It is all new money creation.

The @WSJ wants you to worry about the federal government's red ink. It would be nice if they bothered to show the black ink that spills onto the private sector's side of the ledger.

And, of course, it’s “taxpayer money” when it’s something you’re against and “public money” or “federal dollars” when you’re for it. Them’s the rules.

The question is why do students in the United States need to be taking out loans for higher education? Their counterparts in France pay 350 € a year for tuition and in Germany it’s free. There would be no student debt crisis if tuition stayed constant in real dollars since 1970

This is an attack on all forms of thought & critical thinking outside the needs of business. College education should be free and fully outside the control of vested interests.
