📢 New research challenges BMI as a predictor of ACL recovery. Instead, body composition better correlates with strength & function.
🔬 DXA showed:
✅ ⬆️ lean mass → Stronger quads, better mobility
❌ ⬆️ fat mass → Worse knee pain & performance
📉 BMI? No association.
MOTION Science @ UNC retweeted
💡 Key takeaway: ACL rehab should focus on body composition, not BMI, to optimize long-term outcomes.

Live, laugh, lean mass 💪 our recent paper is online now!!
Findings: ⬇️% lean mass + ⬆️ % fat mass is associated with worse clinical outcomes post-ACLR.
