It's strange being a former military officer & coming across a general that you knew back in the day when you were 2nd Lieutenants together. (And then you remember that he was a nitwit who couldn't pour pee out of a boot if you wrote the directions on the heel)

For the cost of a $2 billion B-2 Spirit Bomber, the Defense Department could purchase a good, second-hand Wifi system for our use here in the Pentagon.

I liked "Everything, All Together, Over Here, Over Where? Over There!" quite a bit. (And I think Michelle Yeoh's Oscar is well-deserved) But I still say #TopGunMaverick was seriously the Best Picture of the year.

"Top Gun:Maverick" wasn't going to win one of the major Oscars because it's a movie that has good things to say about the US and the military. But, Tom Cruise deserves an Oscar for making the movie that saved Hollywood. #TomCruise #TopGunMaverick

So #JaneFonda goes on #TheView and (apparently) jokes that pro-life politicians should be murdered for their views. And people say #TuckerCarlson's show fans the flames of violence. (#JaneFonda earlier in her career with some loyal fans.)

I grew up as a Navy brat in the "Hollow Military" 1970s following the end of the Vietnam War. But the Pentagon brass back then publicly insisted that everything was A-OK, i.e., "Don't worry about broken equipment and recruiting problems. It's all good."

The President's 'proposed' fy 2024 budget would give US military and DoD civilians a 5.2 % pay bump. Sounds good, right? However, the US inflation rate is 6.4% This budget will never become law.

I dealt with Sylvia Garcia a few times over the years back in Texas from my previous job at the Houston Chronicle. This was just embarrassing (and hilarious)
Rep. Sylvia Garcia (D-TX): "You posted on your umm I guess it's kind of like a web page. I don't quite understand what Substack is."

The thing some people overlook about Sen. #Fetterman's situation is that he was elected. So the only way he can be removed is impeachment. He can sit in his room at Walter Reed for as long as he wants or go to France or live on a beach and there's nothing anyone can do. Elections

Polls indicate the American people are generally in favor of supporting Ukraine in its very real existential fight against Russia. But, I think that support may decrease if the battle continues to be an attritional slug-fest. (1-2)

Ukraine will need to get out of their holes sooner rather than later and start maneuvering against their enemy. They're not going to be able to bleed Russia dry of cannon fodder. Putin has no problem throwing troops into the meat grinder. (2-2)

If burning an American flag is considered "symbolic" speech protected by the 1st Amendment, then leaving a tire mark on a public street that has an image of a Pride flag painted on it would seem to fall into that category as well.
