As urgent global issues dominate #UNGA81, critical work is also happening behind the scenes.
@UNDP, @UNOSAA, @ECA_Official & @AfDB_Group met to discuss how to urgently scale support to African countries on sovereign credit ratings.
With the African Credit Rating Agency now established, it is urgent to scale up capacity-building support so countries can engage effectively, strengthen their credit profiles and access more affordable capital.

Few issues connect health, climate and gender equality so directly.
@UNDP stands ready to help countries put the policies and partnerships in place to help more families gain access to clean cooking.
The political momentum is here.
Now we need the financing and the resolve to deliver.
Clean cooking is energy infrastructure, vital to public health, economic opportunity and Africa’s green transition.
Achieving universal access requires investment. We must mobilise capital through local-currency financing, guarantees and other instruments that turn demand into viable projects.
Kenya is leading with a $600 million investment opportunity across schools, healthcare facilities and correctional institutions.
Co-hosted with Norway the first high-level event on clean cooking in Africa held during UNGA in New York, ahead of the Second Africa Clean Cooking Summit in Nairobi in January.

When we talk about the #PactForTheFuture, the real test is how its commitments translate into meaningful action—action that young people can understand, shape and help deliver.
Today, I joined young leaders from across Africa for a regional session on the Gen Z Pact for the Future, an important effort to bring the Pact closer to young people and connect its commitments on peace, climate, technology, sustainable development and youth participation to the realities of their countries and communities.
Global commitments only become meaningful when people can engage with them. This means ensuring young people have the information, space and tools to influence implementation, hold institutions accountable and help shape the solutions that will define their future.
The Pact is about the future—but young people must be partners in delivering it today.
