A woman dressed in a full black burka, with only one eye visible, was removed by a sheriff's deputy from a Pinellas County Commission meeting in Florida after playing a recording of the Islamic call to prayer.
The incident occurred during a heated public comment session over the planned expansion of Masjid Al Rahman, a local mosque.
The woman approached the podium and played the recording for nearly a minute before Commission Chairman Dave Eggers repeatedly ordered her to stop.
“Ma’am, you’re going to have to stop … stop the music, stop the tape,” Eggers told her.
When she refused, a Pinellas County Sheriff's Office deputy escorted her out of the chamber, prompting shouting and arguments among audience members.
