BPD is the only illness where the symptoms get filed under personality. Depression gets sympathy because it's legible. you're sad, you're in bed, people get it. BPD presents as behavior. you text too much, you go cold, you block someone, you're fine then you're not. All of it looks like choices. So everyone concludes it's your temperament, and temperament doesn't get flowers.

Lots of BPD discourse on the tl and im just curious what people thought the ‘frantic and extreme lengths to avoid real or perceived abandonment’ in the diagnostic criteria meant. I don’t think it always looks like sagely asking for help within Twitter Acceptability margins

whenever i see a post of someone having a clear bpd breakdown episode and the comments are “hey bpd haver here, this isn’t okay and you’re a bad person!” i just assume they’re self diagnosed and move on tbh

BPD really is the worst because you could be on your last limb screaming and crying and begging for someone to just show a shred of sympathy, but then you're labeled as a manipulative abuser because you're hurting and want someone to care
