New preprint led by @thelablab: Our meta-analysis of 579 neuroimaging studies finds little evidence for a single, fixed neural core of consciousness. Instead, the findings support distributed systems that combine differently depending on context. biorxiv.org/content/10.64898…

The code for our paper has been released: github.com/ThomasYeoLab/CBIG…! We showed that MS-HBM can reliably estimate individual-specific rs-fMRI networks in drug-resistant epilepsy and that individual-specific language network topography can predict task-fMRI language dominance.

Dealing with difficult people may be hazardous to your health. Data: Each additional "hassler" in your network predicts 1.5% faster biological aging—and worse health a year later. Non-spouse family hasslers are the most problematic. Some ties aren't worth the toll they take.

The paper argues that two major puzzles (how the brain creates a unified experience and maintains an “edge-of-chaos” state) may be explained by continuous electromagnetic fields generated by neural activity. doi.org/10.3389/fncom.2026.1… #neuroscience
