You couldnt script a more fitting end to goldsmith's career - desperately trying to win a seat after spending a whole career losing it on purpose. Pleading with voters - no this time i mean it, but no one belives him because he's burned his own credibility with winked nonsense
John Key has been rolled out to help Goldsmith win Epsom. It's hard not to read into this that National are not expecting any list MPs

This cuts both ways though because sometimes it's the red herring that's some secret American thing so it's actually easier not knowing
I do like the NYT Connections but at the end of the day it is American so you often can’t solve it due to something like: penguin, hammer, dirty old shoe, volcano - Mascots associated with the Delaware Wranglers x

Even though it's actually a lot of juice, like maybe 10-12 grapefruit make a litre of juice

We could be heading for a parliament that's 10% overhang seats. We're gonna need to fix this

When I'm emailing the juniors asking them to do things I sometimes catch myself giving instructions to them like they're AI and I hate it

This is why you should be polite to the clankers because it'll rub off on how you talk generally

I've got what you'd call the "coward's edition" of this book and I'm fine with that

The worst LLMism is “and that’s on me” — Oh is it?? Is it really?? Are you going to bear the consequences of your mistake??? I don’t think so.

It's odd to me how China gets (rightfully) mocked so much for having the whole country share one timezone, but we don't extend the same treatment to continental Europe. Spain, France, and the Benelux countries are just blatantly in the wrong timezone.

We should really get around to managing our exposure by at least extending Eftpos to (a) have contactless, (b) work online properly, (c) interoperate in Aus and (d) mandate everyone who takes Visa and MC in NZ also accepts it, including overseas tech firms over a threshold
One of Lula’s most important and least well-known achievements is US capacity to sanction it into compliance is limited, because unlike Europe, Brazilians don’t need Visa or Mastercard to make payments.

As it stands at the moment Donny T could personally ban you from, for one thing, parking in pretty much any metered parking space in New Zealand since most now are credit card only

Obviously we're very dependent on the US financial system but we'll get better leverage the more plausibly we can threaten to switch to the Yuan-sphere or whatever
