Avoidance is the only approach that guarantees a thing stays difficult. Even a clumsy attempt moves you somewhere. Avoiding it keeps you stuck. And avoidance makes it worse. Every time you look away you teach yourself the thing is too big to face. The truth is the size of the task hasn't grown at all but your fear of it has been growing for years. So there is only one way out, and it is not waiting until you feel ready, because that feeling never arrives on its own. You have to start. You make the terrible first version. The moment you begin, the thing starts becoming ordinary, because everything you do repeatedly becomes ordinary.
