As someone involved in hiring: most of our candidates have all the qualifications they need
But all else being equal — if one candidate writes good emails, responds in a timely manner, and shows up to their interview on time in a work-appropriate outfit (sans iced coffee sweating on the conference table) and the OTHER candidate can’t be bothered to perform any of those professional-class niceties… well, our choice is very easy!
If you truly are head-and-shoulders above all other candidates, an iced coffee probably won’t lose you the job. But are you *absolutely positive* you’re that good?
