Shocking! The ECI’s clarification on Form 6 essentially sends the message that the Election Commission will not abide by the Supreme Court’s directions in the Delhi SIR case!
The clarification insists on use of Form 6 for re-enrolling voters excluded from the draft voter list during SIR, despite SC’s oral directions of 28th October that using Form 6 for this purpose is an ERROR and such persons should be allowed to use Form 8/enumeration form.
When the matter was mentioned by @pbhushan1 in our Delhi SIR matter in Court today, Chief Justice Surya Kant stated that people need not fear as the case is before the Court. The bench asked the petitioners to file an application on this aspect and said that the matter will be heard on 19th November. The bench also stated that, if required, the ECI will be asked to extend the SIR date further.
Our vehicle gave us trouble and the Majestrate will endorsement beyond their control! All happy !

While you were busy with your circus in Karnal, the Supreme Court walked in and shut down your repression factory.
Here’s what it ruled:
🔔 A person detained by the police must be produced before a magistrate within 24 hours.
🔔 The clock starts the moment they are taken into custody, not when the police feel like writing “arrest” in a register.
🔔 Only the time genuinely needed to travel to court is excluded.
🔔 Anyone held beyond 24 hours without a magistrate must be released forthwith.
For years the playbook was to pick up a young man, call it “questioning”, call it “paperwork”, and show him to a magistrate when it suits you.
Ask the families in Kashmir, Punjab and Chhattisgarh how many of their sons disappeared into that gap.
Not anymore.
The Constitution guarantees personal liberty. It is not a formality for the police to work around, and the Court just said so.
So tell us, Mr. Shah: has it started to sink in that your honeymoon with the Home Ministry is over? 😉

The massive gathering at Ramlila Maidan, reportedly attended by 3–4 lakh people, passed off peacefully without any major untoward incident. The police and security personnel were present, yet there was no confrontation.
This raises a fundamental question: Why does the same police force, which can facilitate such a massive gathering peacefully, resort to force against young people who are merely exercising their democratic right to march peacefully?
