I love to have a great conversation about TTRPGs , I just want to share the joy of tabletop RPGs with the world. I probably don't fit your narrative.

👿The dungeon hates you. Bring torches. 🔥 Grimshaw is the turn-based, old-school party dungeon crawler I've been building. Treasure only counts once you get it home. Not out yet, but here's what it is and why I'm making it. #gamedev optionalrule.com/2026/10/15/…

Original DnD had enough real world religion to choke a horse. St Cuthbert, Most of the Hindu Gods, Demons/Devils/Angels, Cleric Titles, and more. Do they think Walk on Water was a random idea?
People who have to bring real world religion into everything are nearly as bad as the satanic panic crazies

GG was a brilliant world builder. Most of all, he had an instinctive understanding of how it connected with #DnD campaigns in a way that fueled the game.
Immerse yourself in a world beneath the world. Twisted alleys and polluted air, ramshackle houses, old cobbled streets, abandoned buildings. Canting Crew will teach you Thieves Cant (yes, really, with a full dictionary and translation guide), the ins and outs of professional thieving (for legal reasons that's a joke) and trade secrets of the underworld.

Not surprisingly my account showed nothing that would limit my reach. I'm not really a controversial poster. That said I'm pretty small time anyway
Under the Hood now shows you which posts received a visibility-limiting label, making it easier to see what’s affected: nitter.cf/i/jf/under_the_hood This was a top request — thanks for the feedback. You’ll see the specific posts listed when fewer than 5% of your posts during the report period have that label.

Valheim sold over 17 million copies with a team that could sit around one table. It wasn't luck, it was discipline. youtube.com/watch?v=Itgftn1-…

The gap between me and people who celebrate terrible things happening is so wide that I feel like we're a different species.

Probably the best GMing advice ever typed.
Replying to @punchlow
Always trust players to put themselves in the worst possible situation. You don't need to set them up for failure. Set them up for success, and watch the madness unfold.

American glass. American metal. American silicon. American batteries. American workers. American everything. BlueChip is the first American computer in decades. Don't let anyone lie to you and say it can't be done. Designed in California. Built in America.

What the what?!?! This is going to be awesome.
Godzilla Minus Zero director Takashi Yamazaki's English-language debut, Grandgear, has cast Paul Giamatti, Nico Parker, and Sam Nivola as its leads. The movie, due to shoot in 2027, reportedly features Pacific Rim style battling mechas. Read more: empireonline.com/movies/news…

Because I'm an idiot, I'm also developing another game I haven't revealed yet.

Progress on Grimshaw continues to go well. I've mostly been focusing on testing and tuning since I returned from my trip. My big debate right now is if noise should draw off the wandering encounter budget or add to it. #gamedev

Great breakdown of why 4e failed by @mikemearls My additions: A TTRPG is more than sales, it's the community that drives sales. Yes, setting books don't sell as well, but they establish a base shared experience, etc. Thread 🧵 youtube.com/watch?v=lBgNSWWC…

DnD will never be a corporate level success as a game. A small number of people drive the experience (the GM) by buying the books. So it's a feature of the hobby that only a fraction of the group will convert to a sale.

4e is also the line for me where WotC started to pursue an imaginary audience. We think that came in around 2020, but I would argue it came in with 4e and 2020 was just a change in which imaginary audience.

The crew? Assembled. The dice? Ready! What could possibly go wrong? The first episode of our special Cyberpunk Pen & Paper session is here, with the one and only Mike Pondsmith from @RTalsorianGames running the game! youtu.be/PBmkJbK3NGw

Correction, its a medium-rare corpse. We're not going to eat it raw, we're not savages.
Alright, you talked me into it!!! Corpse sandwich Corpse and eggs Corpse wrapped lamb chops Corpse wrapped duck The picture isn't even bacon, but I don't expect these pudding brains to understand that. 🤷‍♂️😜

A great IP like Mass Effect shouldn't die because the studio can't manage itself. There should be some kind of abandonment clause that allows fans to continue it. This "if I can't love you, nobody will" approach is terrible.

They would be awesome, that's what would happen.
