Update: the whale has been successfully freed! Once submerged, the rescue team was able to safely pull the whale away from the beach and towards the ocean.

Update: the whale is a 12-13m long sei whale. MAST will go ahead with a rescue attempt tonight at high tide if the whale remains in stable condition. It is currently being closely monitored and kept wet.

The people that treat "Keiko died in the ocean" as a heinous injustice that proves seapens/releases can never work have never actually cared about Keiko, because they would have accepted "Keiko died in a tank" as an acceptable sacrifice not worth changing a single thing over.

these humpbacks whales migrate to stellwagen bank to feed during the summer months & they should be able to do so without their space being infiltrated. they must be respected. very unfortunate to see this happen once again in the area
