Interesting way to frame the headline where the story is Punjab police being caught on camera planting “evidence”.

Irfan Habib wrote an article in HT before the excavation started. He argued that the ASI should not go deeper than 2 metres because the dispute pertains to medieval India and any depth more than that would yield material culture of the ancient India and a brick of the Kushan period could be used as a evidence of a Hindu structure. The Muslim side took the cue and pleaded with the HC to prescribe a 2-metre depth limit to the ASI. The court asked the ASI to reply. The agency argued that limiting the depth would be against the principles of archaeology. It would be an incomplete and meaningless exercise. A couple of months before, Habib had admitted of a structure beneath the earth but called it ‘a residential quarter for marginalised sections.’ All his roguery has been unmasked in my book India’s Rogue Historians. Here is the link. amzn.in/d/073fAHRv
Supreme Court’s Babri Masjid verdict was “totally illegitimate” from a historian's point of view, says historian Irfan Habib in a conversation with @dksingh73 and @MandhaniApoorva.

There is no battle of perception Even avid supporters like me can see the Apathy that has set in. There is too much ego and lack of openness to good ideas which was there earlier. Economic management is in a clueless zone Most Middle and Upper Middle class feel cheated and are of the view that Government is either favoring some industrial groups or distributors freebies to win votes. This is reality not perception
I think @narendramodi govt is losing the battle of perceptions particularly on @instagram. Every day hundreds of propaganda reels are being made against the govt that is being forcibly pushed on the timelines of everyone, even when you don’t follow the makers. The platform has clearly picked a side. And @AshwiniVaishnaw’s ministry seems to be either clueless about it, or the babus are compromised. @blsanthosh

There could be a full-scale war tomorrow morning - and the nation shall cook itself in these politely named “bureaucratic impasses”. This cabal of thugs, cheats, crooks, duffers and traitors are going to pummel the India story into pieces.
A depressing read on India’s critical minerals push/ India has auctioned 733 mineral blocks. Only 125 are actually producing. More than 600 mines are stuck in bureaucratic impasse. At a time when the world is racing for critical minerals and China controls the supply chain, the average gap between winning a block and starting production in India is more than seven years. The Centre’s own notes, prepared for the 6th national conference of chief secretaries, list the problems -fragmented land records, disputed land titles, no land banks set aside for compensatory afforestation, too many state cesses and levies, approvals that move from one department to the next, and weak rail cum port links for moving the ore. Mining brings in over ₹1.9 lakh crore a year, and about 90% of it goes to the states. So the states lose the most when a block sits idle, and they are also the ones who can fix most of these bottlenecks: including digitising land records, creating land banks, setting up single-window approvals. Critical minerals are now about energy security and strategic autonomy, not only revenue. A seven-year wait for a lithium or rare earth mine is something India cannot afford. via @anubhutivishnoi for @EconomicTimes

"I have no hope and trust in Kerala Police but will fight for my father's justice even if it costs my life" - Victim Jayabalakrishnan's daughter 💔 Another shocking allegation said by Victim's daughter that Jayabalakrishnan and his family had previously approached the police station to complain about damage to his eatery. His daughter and relatives have alleged that police personnel behaved improperly towards them and that her father was treated disrespectfully when he sought help. A citizen approaching a police station with a genuine complaint should be treated with dignity, regardless of financial status, occupation or social influence. The current case that stems from Jayabalakrishnan, a 55-year-old roadside eatery owner from was killed in a road accident at Cheranalloor in Kochi when a Mercedes-Benz allegedly driven by a 17-year-old boy, son of District Court Judge who crashed his vehicle. Now that the accused minor was released on station bail earlier is again granted bail from Juvenile Justice Board. The family's allegations about the earlier complaint now add another painful dimension to its demand for accountability. They want answers not only about the fatal crash but also about how their father was treated when he sought police assistance during his lifetime.

Bureaucrats have lost all fear of law and accountability and like politicians, are literally looting the country at will. No other way to put this. As per Dainik Bhaskar, Rajasthan IAS officer Shikhar Agarwal, his wife, IPS officer Prashakha Mathur, their two daughters and their in-laws collectively purchased 40 villas and cottages in Ananta Resort in Bujhda, Udaipur, and a resort in Ajabgarh, Alwar, through Goyal Fashions Private Limited, at a reported cost of Rs 6.15 crore. The properties were subsequently leased to the same company for an annual lease amount of Rs 1.80 crore, according to the report. The newspaper further reported that the family purchased 28 villas and cottages in Bujhda and Ajabgarh in the names of Shikhar Agarwal and Prashakha Mathur's family members, while only 14 properties were reflected in their annual immovable property returns (IPRs). The report states that the transactions involved the officer, his wife, their two daughters and four properties purchased by his in-laws.
