Why the need for 3ltr? Way back in the 80's they were only 1.5ltr turbo. Only the non-turbo cars were 3ltr. Engine tech is immeasurably better now, so the bigger unit is just not needed. Imbeciles are running & ruining F1.

More reliable and easier to push to 1000hp therefore cheaper to develop too. But i do think it shouldve been back to 2.4L instead

A larger displacement engine is less stressed at the same power levels making for a more reliable/durable engine.
