The PHP vulnerability wasn't easy to exploit, but please know that it *is* exploitable. Please make sure you patch if you're running your own servers! dreamgroup.com/blog/chained-…

😂 Everyone rediscovering commercial software development from first principles nitter.cf/hustle_fred/status/211…
4 months ago I cloned Airtable for a client in 5 days because they refused to pay Airtable $500/mo months later, I’m still maintaining it every two weeks it’s another edge case, a UI tweak, or a "quick 10-minute request." They’ve easily spent 10x more in headaches than the $2,000 they would’ve paid Airtable just proving that SaaS isn't dead. Cloning isn't enough, if you want it to be same quality as original it becomes a full time job and at this point isn't it easier to just pay?

This is an awesome explanation. their post: mrnicetry.com/posts/the-php-…
yesterday i explained the PHP bugs with a kitchen. more people read that than anything else i've written about. so here's the long version: two critical bugs, what they mean if you've never touched PHP, and a cook having a very bad shift. 🧵

Interesting...
seeing "the PHP fix was bypassed!" posts? this is a decade-old trick and it only works on sites with an unusual setup. most sites won't be affected. still install today's PHP update, then relax.

Woah... didn't even think about that yet... I've just been patching.
Replying to @CJHandmer
I think if we didn't have agents to do remediation we'd currently be looking about about, oh, $500 billion or so in engineering costs in the US alone backfilling software security issues against *checks notes* substantially every deployed system in every industry.

I love that we can fix anything. Trying to share cool podcast episodes with my dad has been hard. Now, it's not. What a world we live in.

I'm getting my six year olds set up on @omarchy and want to build a basic "email your family" app... and was thinking just using @jessethanley's PostShiba for it... Not sure if I'm just making more work for myself, though...

I know many are moving away from git branches... but I'm considering moving to release branches so I can more easily work on long-running ideas on `main` while more easily making patches for production.

Is it just me or is there a visual bug on the @Apple Safari "switch" page: apple.com/safari/switch/

I think I just need to think of my AI agents like kids... they will just disobey I guess...

If you're told your AC (or other appliances) are dead - ping me and I might be able to walk you through basic troubleshooting or give you questions to ask the company who told you it was dead to really figure it out.
Yesterday I fixed my friend's AC. They were told it was broke and a new one was $14,000. In minutes I found a bad fuse. $15.00 fix. It's not the first time I've seen this. I'm frustrated by either the lack of basic competence or blatant money-grabbing.

Replying to @wesbos
@wesbos this has opened my eyes to what we could ~~hack~~ use. What does this do for farmers and their “bricked” John Deere’s?

I’m gonna see what it’ll do for some PLCs on some industrial equipment at work. Can I fix them to operate the way we want? Methinks yes.

My wife came down and didn’t just approve it, she loved it! Huzzah!!
Claude has been on me all night to get to bed but I must finish v1 thanks to @wesbos sharing how easy these frames are to get working!

She keeps taking pictures of it and sending it to people saying “I’m obsessed”. I just earned major cred with the Mrs.

Sonnet 5.5 is nice, but I'm gonna move to Luna and keep testing. "Fortieth the cost" 🤯

Haiku 5.5 takes the cake for speed compared to Sonnet. Luna has it on cost, but not speed.

Final cleanup before bed. We'll see what the family thinks of it when they wake up and see it.
