Massive congrats to @FishLegal_ @pickeringfish when I filmed at Costa beck what I witnessed & filmed underwater was truly appalling, despite being waste deep in sewage and silt , pleased to have supported this through my filming. Costa beck was the pinnacle of grayling fishing
The Court of Appeal heard the Secretary of State's appeal in January.
The ruling is scheduled to be handed down at 2pm today.

I'll be asking about the idiotic Labour appeal re #CostaBeck today in a Lords' Lib Dem debate on the growing challenges of the effects of climate change on natural ecosystems.
And I've warned the Minister I'll be raising it so she is forewarned and can give me a proper answer.
14/1/25. England. Ministers to appeal against river pollution ruling won by Yorkshire anglers. High court ruled government wasn't meeting legal duty to clean up Costa Beck. Extraordinary that both Labour & Conservative ministers should do this

1 of 2 Did you all watch Joe Lycett Vs Sewage tonight/last night? If not, why not! We've all got to put the pressure on the water companies, DEFRA the EA, Government, and our politicions, which included our local councillors to hold these companies to account.

We're back in the High Court with @pickeringfish
on Monday for another showdown with @DefraGovUK and @EnvAgency.
In November, we got a judgment that questioned the Government's entire approach to river basin management planning.
Wonder if they'll try to appeal...

Tough guiding on a @WildTroutTrust Auction Day at Pickering Beck yesterday; low water & the chilly NW breeze killed off the expected Mayfly hatch with just a handful of duns & spinners late in the afternoon. Despite less than perfect conditions Richard managed to land 15 trout!
Pickering beck is very low & clear but fishing v well. Fish rising to Dance flies & the first Mayflies. Use light lines, long leaders with size 18 & smaller flies unless the fish are really taking the big Mayflies. Fishing this afternoon was great. Www.pickeringfishery.co.uk
Challenging guide day for #WildTroutTrust auction winner, Ian on #Pickering Beck. Cold wind, low water & few risers. We had a no. of wild trout & grayling, to dry flies. Ian so impressed with the beck he's thinking of joining the PFA & he lives in Suffolk! pickeringfishery.co.uk
7 degrees C, raw east wind, very low water, no flies hatching but #PickeringBeck still produced to the dry fly for new member Mark & Dave Southall during a short afternoon session. 8 fish between them. Www.pickeringfishery.co.uk
New PFA members, Mark & Chris, had a great session late afternoon on Pexton. Best rainbow 5lb 2oz, best brown 3lb 2oz...oh and there are a few spaces available to join 👍 Www.pickeringfishery.co.uk located in #ryedale near #pickering and #Kirkbymoorside

Yorkshire. May not look much but when the river is in flood this gets taken downstream, eventually ending up in the sea. We are now filming river plastics and garbage when we are filming underwater. The problem I feel is getting worse
Couple of hours today on #Pickering Beck in #ryedale. Fish rising to size 18 CdC IOBOH: 10 nice #wildbrowntrout & a dozen OOS #grayling landed. Great start to the #troutseason! New member applications welcome. Www.pickeringfishery.co.uk

May not look much, small items like this do travel down our river systems on a regular basis. Our actions on this amazing planet are having a massive impact on the wildlife. We will be filming plastic/garbage on all our filming locations this year. @lillyspickup #PlasticPollution
