It's a shame X is such a difficult environment to connect professionally on or maybe I'm doing it wrong. I've been forced back to LinkedIn as it really is the only place around if you run a B2B small business.
I'm actually quite good at data work and presenting it for clients.
I would change *most* to *some* but this is the perfectly reasonable compromise pis5that could easily put an end to debate and let everyone move on.
I don't often agree with James but
as I've been driving around Scotland a lot last 3 months I can confirm this is EVERYWHERE..
Near every town in the country has major exits hampered by roadworks and new trend is shut roads completely forcing long detours.
Travel 10 miles in any direction and it's hard to avoid and they take months, often years with constant repetition on some sections.
The pattern that is seen all over Britain.
The A91 between Cupar and St Andrews is no longer a road. It is a two-year social experiment in whether humans can still feel time.
Two years of traffic cones, temporary lights and men in high-vis staring into holes with the mañana calm of people who have made peace with eternity.
Fife Council has been digging this stretch longer than some wars last. What began as “essential works” has become a heritage industry. Generations have now come of age believing the natural state of the A91 is a red light that stays on red so long that drivers can listen to entire albums on their car stereo while waiting at the traffic lights. Drivers grow old on this road.
First it was underground pipes. Then cables. Then more cables, because the first lot of cables clearly weren’t enough. You don’t drive from Cupar to St Andrews. You slalom.
At one point Cupar was running something like fourteen separate sets of works at once. It would have been quicker to list the roads that didn’t have cones on them.
By the time the last cone is finally lifted, children will be old enough to ask why their parents ever thought “just nipping into Cupar” was a sentence that a fully functioning adult would say.
The A91 was once a road. It is now a waiting car room with traffic lights and traffic cones.
My switch from @OctopusEnergy to @edfenergy went really well and if nothing else a real credit into utility suppliers making this process much easier.
I'll always have a sense of loyalty to @OctopusEnergy without their innovation around smart tine of use tariffs and better apps and customer service the others might never have changed.
I couldn't ignore the price rises though
Now locked in to @edfenergy EV tariff for £0.06p / kWh from 11pm to 6am for 18 months and adding more home battery is the best way to avoid price spikes.

Sad to say but I don't think MON is going anywhere with this Celtic team. Winning league last season was always about what they did next and in Celtics case it was just usual managed downgrades and hope to get away with it. A successful Player trading model making plenty money for wealthy owners where succes on pitch is a side show. It's lack of competition in Scotland kept a majority happy but not any more #CelticFC
Pretty much everyone is noticing this now. I always felt 4G coverage was really good. Poor 5G rollout seems to just have caused problems everywhere.
Britain’s mobile phone network is really unfit for purpose. Particularly when doing what a MOBILE network is supposed to do — moving!
I’m on @EE which is supposed to have the best coverage in U.K. - it’s awful!
This isn’t an inherent problem with 5G. Other countries have deployed the same technology far more successfully. Opensignal ranks Britain LAST among 29 European markets for mobile network performance. Denmark achieves 226 Mbps average download speeds against Britain’s 84 Mbps.
So what went wrong?
5G typically uses higher frequencies than legacy networks, with shorter effective range and poorer penetration into buildings and vehicles. Reliable coverage therefore requires sufficient mast density, capacity and overlapping cells to maintain connectivity during handovers.
Britain hasn’t invested adequately in that infrastructure. Much of our 5G still depends on 4G architecture, while the closure of 3G has removed a legacy fallback. Add network congestion, patchy rural coverage and unreliable handovers, and the result is familiar: phones displaying 5G but unable to transfer data, connections disappearing on motorways and trains, and calls dropping mid-conversation.
And where is @Ofcom?
It proudly reports 99%+ outdoor 4G premises coverage. But that figure is based on predicted signal strength, NOT independently verified, continuous connectivity. Indeed, Ofcom’s own figures show that only 84% of UK landmass has predicted good 4G coverage from all operators.
A signal at a stationary address is not the same as a usable connection travelling at 70 mph.
Ofcom has overseen the transition to 5G and the retirement of 3G without ensuring that network resilience, capacity and reliable handovers meet the needs of mobile users.
Why aren’t operators required to demonstrate real-world connectivity along roads and railways, with published measurements of dropped calls, failed handovers and data interruptions?
We have confused the availability of a technology with the delivery of a service.
A mobile network that cannot reliably maintain a connection while mobile is fundamentally failing its purpose.
Ofcom should be held accountable.
£83,000 for charity is pretty derisory from one of the biggest shows in UK TV. #TheTraitors
Normally I hate this stuff but....have you noticed all BBC Scotland + Radio Scotland are .....well white. They all have very similar accents too.. a bit old school middle class TV voices. Only notice it switching from radio 1 and 2 to radio Scotland. No Asian, black voices.very rarely working class accents.
The entirety of this thread and interactions was just a series of deflections, racism, denial and no data.
The issue pretty much entirely isn't trans men. It's trans women. Trans men offend at same rate as women. Trans women offend at same rate as men. Not more but certainly not less.
There's complete refusal to acknowledge that.
This is massive deflection and racism. Black men do not commit sex offences at higher rate than other rnen when adjusted for social background etc. those born male do commit offences at enormously higher rate regardless of adjustment for gender , race faith.
Stats show less than 5 trans men in prison for sex offences. Basically they don't count below t so is very likely 0.
What becomes obvious when you push back even a little on this stuff is nobody anywhere has given the akgigres dwtaiked though as to how this works in practice.
That's not to say trans people should be allowed to compete in sport based on sex at birth but extending to local sports is really really challenging. There's only ever consideration to "elite" sports bot the small local women's rugby team dealing with a 15yo 6' 100kg trans women wanting a place in women's team having played for mens.

"The Experiment" on Channel 4 really interesting. Basically a set up showing a fake home for disabled people modelled on facilities and propaganda used by the Nazis. Speaking up in these situations is so hard especially with modern propaganda. The final room was the. a "dedication" to all those who had chosen assisted death (fake obviously). Basically referencing Holocaust of disabled people. Still a majority didn't speak up.
It's okay everyone. If your kids are involved in sports it's all really" just a bit of fun" so boys and girls don't worry about it being competitive!
