This is what it must feel like to be a tree! This hand-reared #redsquirrel is fully recovered & back outside in aviary. Hopefully she'll revert to wildness for spring release. @argatyredkites @ScotSquirrels @NeilMcIntyre3 @SquirrelAccord @RobertEFuller @WigtownBookFest
Such great news - at long last
EXCELLENT NEWS!!! Scotland's landmark ban on snares will commence 25 November 2024.
The ban will be immediate, no 'phase-out' period.
Well done to all those campaigners who have worked for decades for this result 👏

Fantastic news . The government scrapped plans last Friday that would have allowed large numbers of badgers to be culled for at least a decade and it is set to launch a much needed fresh review of the policy. The policy is ineffective. Farmers can now turn to focused methods to remove b TB from the national herd that are both effective and focused on the clever bug and enemy “Mycobacterium bovis”.

Scotland is one of the most nature-depleted countries on Earth, but it doesn't have to be this way.
Sign the Rewilding Nation Charter and urge @scotgov to commit 30% of our land and seas to rewilding, for the future of nature, climate and people. bit.ly/RNCharter

"It's apt that the beavers themselves have carried on the work to pave the way for the reintroduction of another species like the water vole."
Beavers increase the diversity at the water's edge, making it easier for water voles to hide from mink 👇

If they could, wild things all over #Scotland would be in deep mourning over the loss of the wonderful & brilliant Gay Christie - huge sympathies to Andy - you both did/ do so much for our beleaguered #wildlife #rehabilitation @hessilhead
It is with great sadness that I have learnt of the death of Gay Christie. She was an animal champion. Co-founder of Hessilhead Wildlife Rescue, she worked tirelessly to help wildlife - especially #hedgehogs. To help her work continue: justgiving.com/hessilheadwil…
Grim news - the need for a vaccine is now desperately, desperately urgent @ScotSquirrels
It’s hard not to sink into serious depression seeing this & the 1000s of other horrendous eco-related & war related horrors …. When will humans ever learn? I fear we won’t stop until we have wiped out every living thing…. Then what?
Japan's new whaling mother ship, the Kangei Maru, sets out on its first whale slaughter expedition.
The ship is scheduled to enter Tokyo Port on Thursday. It will then head to hunting grounds off the Tohoku region on Saturday to kill #whales

Thank you @ForestryEngland for your continued support and advocating beavers and the benefits they can bring. We're looking forward to seeing what changes they make over the next few months. 🌿
This shouldn’t be permitted- it will spell the ruination of one of the most savagely beautiful wildlife locations in Scotland … it’s sad that we fail to see this -
So how is this helping the climate issues in St Kilda scotsman.com/news/environmen…
