My translation of Cyril of Alexandria’s Thesaurus on the Holy and Consubstantial Trinity is nearing publication with @BerithPress. The volume includes a substantial introduction to Cyril, the work, and its theological setting; a (mildly) critical text where the PG requires correction or supplementation; and nearly 800 footnotes identifying sources, resolving textual problems, and helping readers follow Cyril’s exegesis and argument. The Thesaurus itself is extraordinary: thirty-five discourses in which Cyril works through Scripture, the Nicene inheritance, and the great Trinitarian controversies of the fourth century. I’m very glad to see it becoming available to English readers.

I wish they taught us more about the Phoenicians... 👀 @postnuance
An exciting translation project. Bochart traces the history of nations from Shem, Ham, and Japheth down to his own day. His Sacred Geography is on our list. (The very capable @postnuance is set to oversee the translation; the quoted post is not his work).

I’ve been asking for the same. This is good to know. My daughter has epilepsy with ESES (90% spike wave index). Praying for your success.

A just and merciful resolution, all things considered. Praise should be given to local law enforcement and DHS for how it was handled—and to Annie for accepting the consequences with grace and sobriety.
From Annie Sey: The Sey family would like to thank our brothers and sisters from across the world who have sent messages, offered prayers, and supported us financially through this very difficult time. We sincerely believed we were following the legal process, which we continue to respect. Sadly, Samuel was removed from the U.S. and is in Canada as of today, October 30. Although this has been devastating to our family and the outcome is not what we had hoped, we will trust God’s sovereign plan and work to reunite our family.

The largest robbery in history occurred yesterday. North Korean hackers stole $6.4 billion from Binance. That in itself makes the event news worthy. It also happened into general multi-month weakness across most or all markets, including global worst of all, bad major tech earnings, looming midterms, and, this is important, data center weakness. AI companies are also, without coincidence, giving out gifts to users left and right. “Something is happening” bros are winning this round.

Robbery and fraud belong to the overall crypto cycle. Believe it or not. Into every major run there’s robbery and fraud. 🤦‍♂️

Yeah, that's a mixed syllogism. The disagreement centers on the major premise. After four years of thinking about it, I would rephrase the major as something like this: "The prince must, by natural duty, order his people to piety." The effect is the same, but this rephrasing fits better with nature/grace and covenant theology.

At 13, I saw Patrick Stewart’s brilliant one-man A Christmas Carol on Broadway. Afterward, a friend spotted him backstage and yelled, “Jean-Luc!” Stewart stopped cold. “What’s my name?” “Uh…Mr. Stewart?” “My FULL name.” “Patrick Stewart.” And with that, he climbed into his black car. We had just received a second performance. For free.
