Sadiq Khan will defend a woman's right to cover her face. He won't defend her right to wear a cross.
Asked about the burqa, the Mayor said he "wouldn't dream" of telling women what to wear it's their freedom to choose.
Ask him the same about a nurse with a crucifix, or a Christian told to keep their faith quiet at work, and see how quickly the freedom disappears.
Freedom of religion for one, freedom to shut up for the rest.
