Finally, raising tax on banks well advertised though slightly lower than expected. This helps govt revenues in short term but no indication yet of how increased defence pledge will impact other departmental spending already squeezed in last spending review @Radix_UK
And help to business, such as easing some building regulations on brownfield developments, raising business rates threshold for retail and hospitality, and national living wage rising only with earnings is giving some relief but the extra NIC cost remains @Radix_UK

One presumes economy downgrade reflects worries about continuing business and cost of living pressures,with household energy bills likely to go up sharply despite Healey's attempts to ease some of that pain.More intervention may be needed, not necessarily budgeted for @Radix_UK

It is great news Helen and one that all the 130+ Network Partners of @CarersTrust will welcome. Great efforts by many people and organisations to get us here. But more to be done to make Carers Allowance really fit for purpose.
Looking forward to chatting about these on @LBC at 13.40. The one that really jumps out is Carers Allowance. Someone caring 35 hours a week can get £84/week. Right now they can work 16 hours @ NLW. If they work £17 hours they lose *the entire carers allowance*. Total madness. 1/4
