I’ve been against Trump’s arch from the start. Now, his own National Park Service is even admitting the harm this thing will cause.
Do you know how we could avoid this harm? Don’t build the stupid thing.
Trump has already left his gaudy mark on Washington. I won’t stand by while he tries to make his ego a permanent fixture of its historic landscape.
Today is Election Day! 🗳️
Your vote is your voice. Our democracy depends on people showing up, making their voices heard, and taking an active role in shaping the future of our communities and our country.
So find your polling place, cast your ballot, and wear that "I Voted" sticker proudly!

One day before the midterms, Trump held a bizarre press conference, waving around posters of his latest DC renovation plans, boasting about his giant arch, and blaming imaginary vandals for his botched Reflecting Pool makeover.
Even his MAGA-jammed DOJ attributed the damage to faulty installation, not vandalism.
The clock is ticking, Trump. The American people deserve answers about where their money went, and tomorrow, they get to have their say.
This loophole exists, and Trump has proven he's not afraid to use any opening he can find to make himself richer.
We need to close it and stop him from using taxpayer money to pad his luxury golf course portfolio.
A House Democrat is asking congressional appropriators for guardrails that would prevent President Trump from exploiting a loophole in federal law to buy the East Potomac Golf Course that he's been pushing to renovate with taxpyer funds.

This is an industry giveaway that won't lower prices, and it’s an insult to the intelligence of voters from a president who just boasted that "we're making a freaking fortune" from high oil and gas prices due to his war in Iran.
The only ones winning are Trump and his billionaire Big Oil buddies. nytimes.com/2026/10/27/clima…
It was great to visit the Spud Point Icehouse in Bodega Bay and see firsthand how vital this facility is to our local fishing industry.
I'm proud to have secured $1.2 million in federal funding to help modernize the icehouse and ensure our fishing fleet has the resources it needs to thrive.
A huge thank you to our hardworking fishermen, who play such an essential role in our coastal communities and local economy.
Last weekend, I joined Andy Neal, an outdoor advocate and former evangelical pastor, for a walk through the beautiful redwoods of Del Norte County. We had a wide-ranging conversation about government, religion, environmental conservation, and the rise of Christian nationalism.
I appreciated the opportunity to exchange perspectives and reflect on these important issues in a place we both have a special connection to. I can’t think of a better place to talk about our shared goals than the awe-inspiring redwoods!
Israeli authorities detained humanitarian volunteers and American rabbis who were peacefully helping Palestinian farmers harvest their olives in the West Bank.
I urge the Israeli Ambassador to immediately intervene, end the intimidation of these volunteers, release those still detained, and ensure they are not deported.
Protecting Palestinian farmers from settler violence should not be treated as a crime.
Jewish tradition calls on us to pursue justice. Today, American rabbis and advocates lived out those values by helping Palestinian farmers harvest their olives. Israeli authorities detained them, including congressional candidate @BradLander.
The Israeli government must immediately release everyone detained and start arresting these settler terrorists.
The Palestinian farmers these leaders and advocates came to support are left even more vulnerable to settler and state violence without the protection of those who stood beside them.
This is precisely when our values must mean something. American Jewish institutions that claim to care about Israel’s future must stop looking away. It’s past time to speak out.
Yesterday, one of my district offices received a suspicious letter containing an unknown white powder.
Similar letters have been sent to congressional offices and election officials across California and the country, prompting a broader investigation by federal authorities.
I'm relieved that my staff are safe and unharmed. The safety of my team and the many constituents that visit our offices is my top priority, and I'm grateful to the law enforcement officials who responded quickly.
Political violence, threats, and intimidation have absolutely no place in our democracy. This type of behavior must be condemned unequivocally.
For nearly a year, I’ve been demanding answers about who’s bankrolling Trump’s gilded ballroom. It should never have taken leaked documents for Americans to find out who exactly was paying: Big Tech, defense contractors, crypto companies, and billionaire allies with business before his administration.
We deserve a full accounting of who paid and what they were promised. But it’s clear this administration has gone out of its way at every step to serve these billionaire donors instead of the American people.
Exclusive: A list reveals all the major donors to President Trump’s White House ballroom, including previously undisclosed contributors who have benefited from regulatory decisions, government contracts and, in one case, a pardon for a family member. wapo.st/3UtGh0X
There's a reason that, in movies, the guys in expensive suits who show up to chop down trees and bulldoze a public park to build a golf course are the villains.
East Potomac Park belongs to the American people, not a shambolic president who thinks our public lands are part of his personal golf course portfolio.
After a devastating fire in 2023, the Gualala Community Center is rebuilding. I was able to get $1 million in federal funding for this project and it was great to visit the site and see all their progress.
Thank you to the architects, construction crews, and dedicated community members working hard to bring this beloved community gathering space back to life!

Trump casually inviting Iran to “take out” Los Angeles and San Diego is not funny. It is delusional, demented, and dangerous.
He dragged us into an unnecessary war with no vision for how it would end. His approval is cratering, and with nowhere else to turn, he’s lashing out at the very country he is supposed to lead.

Trump has chosen to spend $1.82 billion in taxpayer dollars on projects to fuel his ego. Meanwhile, families are struggling to afford groceries, keep the lights on, fill up their cars, and cover the basic costs of everyday life.
A new ballroom and a 250-foot arch won’t make anyone’s life better. At a time when Americans are being squeezed by everyday costs, Trump’s priorities could not be more out of touch.
Pete Hegseth’s conception of religious freedom seems to begin and end with his own Christian Nationalist worldview. Now he’s creating an Office of Religious Affairs that reports directly to him, giving him even more power to inject his personal religious beliefs into the Pentagon.
Hegseth seems determined to drag us down his dystopic road to Gilead, but the Pentagon is not his pulpit and our servicemembers are not his congregation.
It was great to be out with local leaders and folks in our community to celebrate the opening of the new Vista Point Trail!
What was once a dangerous stretch is now a safer, car-free route for cyclists, runners, and pedestrians – with an unbeatable view!
I’m glad I could help out by securing some federal funding to get this long-awaited North Bay project across the finish line.
My thoughts on the Senate's permitting reform bill:
Passing a good permitting reform package will be one of my top priorities for the next Congress, so I'm very interested in these Senate negotiations.
From what I've seen, Senators Whitehouse and Heinrich have done some good work, but they've been negotiating from a position of weakness and the tentative deal unveiled today raises significant questions and concerns that would have to be resolved before most Democrats could support it.
I'm all for streamlining transmission and clean energy buildout, but the threshold requirement before making major policy concessions is to actually end Trump's war on renewables so that hundreds of bottled-up clean energy projects can bring that affordable power to the grid. Further, we can't throw states, tribes, impacted communities, and threatened and endangered wildlife under the bus. And as we streamline and cut red tape, we must make sure the American people — not just powerful corporate interests — have a say in government decisions about what happens to our air, water, and public lands. That's what serious, responsible permitting reform looks like.
There's a way to get there, and parts of this deal are helpful, but some of it concedes too much. Hollowing out the Endangered Species Act through the delegation of authority and problematic definitions, for example, is so extreme that a milder version of it spooked several House Republicans off of Bruce Westerman's ESA bill earlier this year, so you can imagine how it's going to land with the American people who overwhelmingly support protecting wildlife. And the provisions that seek to guarantee fair treatment for wind, solar, and battery storage are novel, untested, and don't really end the war on clean energy, but they will still trigger cries of "Green New Deal" and fierce opposition from the House Freedom Caucus, clouding any path to pass this deal through the House unless it gets much worse. And knowing the GOP players, that's exactly what will happen if this bill advances in the lame duck.
The bottom line for me, and I believe most Democrats, is that November 3rd is coming and we are likely to soon have a far better negotiating position. Folding our hand now or in the lame duck makes no sense when we can keep working on this and, in a few more months, have a much better deal that works for everyone.
We should be investing in projects that strengthen our grid, lower costs, and deliver more power – not shoveling out $4 billion in taxpayer dollars to shut them down.
Slashing offshore wind is a lose-lose for energy resilience and our economy.
We are standing strong against Trump’s war on clean energy and saying YES to a better path forward: offshore wind that puts more power on the grid, lowers costs, and helps meet our growing energy needs.
Public lands belong to all Americans, and all Americans deserve to have a say in development that would affect our lands, waters, and access to public resources.
The Trump administration doesn’t get to cut secret deals over public lands and shut out the public and Congress. I’m demanding a full accounting of these data center buildouts and answers on who exactly is behind them.

Trump is grasping at straws to make this arch happen – but each plan is dumber than the last.
The FAA already had to account for putting a 250-foot arch in the middle of flight paths. Now Trump wants to call it a “military complex” and launch drones from it, station snipers on top, and store ammunition inside. This new label doesn’t make all the problems with this monstrosity disappear, it’s just creating more.
Tune in to CNN tonight at 11 PM ET to hear more about why I’m pushing back.
