Happy Father’s Day. A special kudos to those working today to keep our communities safe. One such father, @abPAPD officially takes command of @PaloAltoPolice as Interim Chief so please send him 👏. Stay safe and be well! 🙏🚔

This afternoon we celebrate well deserved promotions for 20 members of @PaloAltoPolice. These individuals helped us address the challenges of the past couple of years, while also remaining committed to keeping @cityofpaloalto safe. As a team, we reduced crime 11% in 2021. 🚔 🙏

Fantastic program! I participated in 2008 and immediately began implementing strategies to reduce crime and build community relationships. Strategies leading to numerous community policing awards. Bottom line - use what you learn to better your community 🙏@PoliceForum @TheIACP

Thanked colleagues for the support and collaboration over past few years. City Manager talked about the leadrship equation I wrote on his board during my interview. It starts with “R” - respect everyone, the profession and yourself 🙏! Follow @abPAPD as he leads @PaloAltoPolice.

The 17 “School Safety/Active Shooter” recommendations I made in 2001 have value today, so here is #2. Designed for schools, but over the years we’ve implemented them for businesses and churches as well. If you don’t have established safety plans, start today! #EndGunViolence 🚔🙏

As my career with ⁦@PaloAltoPolice⁩ comes to a close, it’s about to begin for our most recent hires. Three aspiring officers joined me in a few push-ups on their final day before beginning the Academy. It won’t be long before they return to serve ⁦@cityofpaloalto⁩ 🚔

Thanks for sharing! It is a hard day, but so grateful Officer Connelly (Brian), and others, are at our schools helping any way possible. Brian is always willing to do whatever it takes to assist and make someone’s day a little brighter - amazing human serving @cityofpaloalto! 🙏

Sad, frustrated, and angry, but this is not even close to what the families are going through in Texas. My son once asked, “Will there be shootings when I go to school?” That was so long ago my grandson is about to start school! We can do better - prioritize prevention!

Great turnout for the Gun Buyback event in Milpitas today. It was a privilege to help ensure people had a safe place to dispose of unwanted firearms. Kudos to @OttoLee_ , @da_rosen, and @MilpitasPD for coordinating today’s event. Making communities safer through collaboration! 🙏

It was an honor to receive a plaque from @CountyChiefs today alongside Chief Galea. We both attended our last meeting as Chiefs. However, my plaque can be modified if I return as Santa Clara County next Sheriff 😉. Amazing group continually striving to keep communities safe! 🚔🙏

I’ve had the privilege to work alongside the most incredible humans during my career, and I’ve also experienced extreme heartache over the ultimate sacrifice many have made in serving our communities. This morning @PaloAltoPolice honors 3 of our own. #NationalPoliceWeek2022 🙏

Honored to be part of @CalChiefs Officer Wellness Committee and championing for officer health and wellness everyday. Gratitude to our non—profit partners offering training to support this mission. 🙏@CompassionInst

My heart goes out to everyone impacted from the violence in our country. Mass shootings should deeply concern us all. We need to do better advocating for stronger protocols designed to mitigate and potentially prevent these types of incidents. I have a presentation if needed! 🙏

We honor Officer Ted Brassinga today, and will again on Tuesday as part of #NationalPoliceWeek. Please join us for a ceremony on May 17 (9 a.m.) at Cogswell Plaza in @cityofpaloalto to honor the three officers in our Department's history who’ve been killed in the line of duty. 🙏

Kudos to @cityofpaloalto on the completion of another amazing city project 👏. Today was the official ribbon cutting for the remodeled park and junior museum. The solar system exhibit along the walkway is a great add so check it out when you visit. Proud to be there to support!

I understand why there are concerns regarding encryption. Yet, It’s important to ensure everyone’s personal information is protected. ⁦⁦⁦@PaloAltoPolice⁩ offers a calls for service platform similar to ⁦@SDSheriff⁩. opengis.cityofpaloalto.org/b… police1.com/communications/a…

It’s #NationalPoliceWeek and we continue to pay reverence to officers across the nation who paid the ultimate sacrifice keeping our communities safe. Today, we address the wellness of our workforce so they can remain healthy while continuing to serve our communities! 🚔 🙏

This will be my opportunity to say “Thank You” to the @cityofpaloalto community for partnering with us as we address our most pressing issues, and to pass the baton to @abPAPD who’ll provide an update on crime and initiatives implemented to better serve our city. See you tonight!
