Just crunched the numbers. Democrats will have complete control of 21 states and DC, with a total of 273 electoral votes. That means that they can abolish the Electoral College without constitutional amendment. We will never have another non-Democrat President. Thank you for saving democracy!

Ants are animals. Organic substances. Per se unities. natural beings. They aren’t software running on an artificial collection of multiple natural substances. It’s not about “humans r special”.
I am puzzled as to why my fellow theologically orthodox Christians are *adamant* that the probability of AI consciousness is 0% rather than 0.001%. What is the big deal if we admit that AI is potentially but almost certainly not conscious, rather than impossibly conscious? What do we lose? Ants are conscious, for goodness' sake. That doesn't diminish our dignity in any way.

An AI system is not a concrete thing. It’s an abstract, mathematical object. Saying that a sufficiently complex AI system might be conscious is like thinking that the number pi might be conscious

If I identify as a man, am I a woman? No, obviously not. Why not? Because being a man and being a woman are self-evidently different. Exactly

Attacking the hard left on the issue of “political violence” doesn’t make much sense. Has everyone forgotten the American Revolution?

On today’s Journal Editorial Report, WSJ columnist Alissia Finley claimed that a typical car wash uses twice as much water as a typical AI data center. One of the most preposterous things I’ve ever heard. The WSJ opinion page has descended to the level of Big Lie propaganda.

This brilliant man was on the team that gave Richard Dawkins his PhD in 1966. But he now has devastating criticisms of Dawkins' principal assertions, much to Dawkins' prickly dismay.
In this episode of Socrates in Oxford, host Eric Metaxas is joined by Denis Noble, the brilliant physiologist and biologist, as he challenges one of the most deeply rooted assumptions in modern science: that everything can ultimately be reduced to its smallest parts.

Nolan didn’t adapt Homer “for a modern audience.” He adapted the epic against a specific segment of the modern audience. He was worried that presenting Homer straight would appeal too much to the wrong audience. He gives us a liberalized, egalitarian, denatured, cosmopolitan Homer in order to repel many modern people

Homer’s epics don’t need to be adapted for the modern audience; the modern audience must do what more than 100 earlier generations have done: adapt itself to Homer’s epics.

Remember, "judicial review," the supposed power of courts to decide if an act of the executive or legislature complies with the Constitution, is an extra-constitutional fiction created by the Supreme Court itself. Ignoring the Court is constitutional, rational, and necessary.

Thomas footnote: T. Aquinas, Summa Theologica: [F]oreigners “were not at once admitted to citizenship” because “if foreigners were allowed to meddle with the affairs of a nation as soon as they settled down in its midst, many dangers might occur, since the foreigners not yet having the common good firmly at heart might attempt something hurtful to the people.”
