The news business pays for journalism, which has a discipline of verification; we tell you how we know something, or we attribute it, and we're mainly about facts. Social media are mainly about opinion, and have little or no discipline or verification. On which should you rely?
The main source for this story seems to be the ousted campaign manager, who tried to retract her statements as two things were being prepared: this story and a wrongful-termination lawsuit, which has not been filed. Other sources make the story seem solid.nytimes.com/2026/10/28/us/po…
6th District race is a tossup and a Trump PAC has made a massive buy. But why is @barrforsenate running ads against @Booker4KY which just now got on the air and has never seemed competitive? Do they fear a blue tsunami or are they just not taking any chances?

The specialty of @GovAndyBeshear is "language that plays better with swing voters,” Kentucky political-science professor @DStephenVoss explains, “because Beshear has honed his messaging selling an electorate that’s not already in his party’s pocket.” washingtonsun.com/perspectiv…
Bears some investigation.
Looks like Zach Dembo has some friends. Two unregistered on the FEC political groups sending out mail supporting conservative issues for one of the independent candidates. Total hypocrisy from Democrats on campaign finance. #ky6
Daniel Orton does a good job for Newsweek in summarizing the race in KY-06, which could be an Election Night bellwether. newsweek.com/the-kentucky-ca…

Churchill could have shortened WW2 by years if he had just “done a deal” with Hitler. George Washington could have done a deal to end the American Revolution. Zelenskyy is in good company.
Excellent take by ex-AP reporter @JonLemire and a colleague on the most important issue on which the midterm elections are likely to have the least effect, unless Ukraine-friendly Rs can stand up to Trump and form a two-thirds majority (veto overrides, conviction on impeachment).
Add this very practical reason to the list of good reasons not to build this monstrosity: a 250-foot obstacle is the last thing Reagan National Airport needs. wapo.st/4i7Zjlk
Perhaps this senseless, apparently racist tragedy will spur African American turnout in Mississippi, a state that is 38 percent Black. This sort of stuff has been going on there for centuries, but this case is especially heart-wrenching and outrageous. theguardian.com/us-news/2026…

Trump is leaning into the idea that Russia isn’t a bad actor here. He is telling the majority in this Congress that despite the strong bipartisan consensus to punish Russia for its crimes against Ukraine, Europe and democracy itself, he doesn’t care what the other branch of govt thinks. Someday, somebody in Congress is going to discover, their branch has more Constitutional power than POTUS.
Trump: My decision on Russia is a very simple one. I don't want to do anything that will drive, foolishly, Russia away from the bargaining table.
Russia is doing very little, if anything, to help the Islamic Republic of Iran, compared to what they could be doing.
Zelenskyy is using Diesel Refineries in Russia as a target, knowing that these attacks are seriously hurting the world diesel markets, including those in the United States.
Farmers, ranchers, and businesses of all kinds are suffering greatly from this, but Russia is, nevertheless, sending, at a low price, millions of barrels of diesel to the World.
Zelenskyy doesn't care, and frankly, with all of the money that Europe is famously giving him, and that Crooked Joe Biden gave him in the past, he doesn't want to end this war, and probably never did.
He could have made a better deal two years ago than he can now. His country is in shambles, a large portion of his land is lost, his oceans and seas are gone, and his male population is low, wounded, and/or dead. I WANT THIS WAR END!
I'll venture that @RepAndyBarr needed no in-person help from Trump, whose attacks on opponent Charles Booker seem more likely to generate votes for the cash-poor Booker than votes for Barr. If Booker has money maybe he will put up ads with Barr and Trump. whas11.com/article/news/loca…
It should be noted that "deep red" KY is, by some surveys, the state where Trump has lost more support than any other, and that while he promised a big factory in the 6th District if Republicans win there, their district nominee did not attend the rally. cnn.com/2026/10/17/politics/…
