400 interviews in 3 weeks???
Yikes.. they're even interviewing at @JeffDean speed. :-)
Jeff Dean reveals Discovery Loop did 400 interviews, mostly at Cafe Venetia on University Avenue, in its first three weeks and already has about 20 automated improvement loops running
“So what have we done so far? First three weeks we did 400 interviews, mostly at Cafe Venetia on University Avenue, to find amazing people, which I talked about some of them. Finding office space, we’re in the old Zibibbo restaurant, so we have a funky space for us."
"We’ve built our own agent harness that we’re using for all of our own development and for automation. That harness has some really nice collaboration features, so you can think of it as a system that you interact with a model to have conversations and ask it to solve things, but you can also invite your teammate in to collaborate. And so then the two of you can talk to a model and an agent. And you can also have other people add comments to the thing you’re trying to do, and propose a design to the agent before you propose that."
"We’ve built really agent-first infrastructure so that it will scale to having tens, hundreds of thousands of agents doing things rather than sort of hundreds of people doing things. We think that’s really important, and we’ve got probably on the order of 20 automated improvement loops running in the way in which we imagine that we want to solve problems.”
Working on a job description. Pulled up an old one I wrote and found this sentence.
This is a hiring princple I'll always stick by. :-)
I'm starting to believe...
I probably have a future PM on my hands with my 9yo. Very impressive presentation, unclear if she knows what any of it meant, and expects me to finish it.
Keep saying he’s washed. :-)

Incredible... but also apparently even from space inference, I don't really get poetry. :-)
There’s a first time for everything. Today I said “that email should’ve been a meeting” to a colleague . :-)
The sort of career where literally everyone just says incredible things about you when you retire is worth aspiring to.
:-O - this is one way to pace the frontier. :-)
I did say we'd be releasing our models periodically...introducing Gemini 4 Carbon, our next frontier model.
Following Argon's release just two weeks ago, Carbon shows the pace at which we’re pushing the frontier, it ranks #1 on the recently updated v5.0 of @ArtificialAnlys Intelligence Index at 59. It also leads across key cybersecurity evaluations scoring 88.2% on SEC-bench Pro for finding vulnerabilities, 54.8% on ExploitGym for exploitation, and 71.0% on CWE-bench for patching.
We’re seeing significant improvements in long-horizon tasks even compared to Argon, and we’ve strengthened frontier safeguards.
As we did with Argon, we’re going to roll it out gradually + responsibly. Some trusted cyber defenders will get access starting this week. We'll be expanding it to more partners through our Fairwind Program, ahead of wider availability soon, so hang tight!
If I were re-doing an undergrad/early grad PM course today, I'd make it much more a "jack-of-all-trades, knows-how-to-master-some" course.
Me: "I'm worried more about how quickly education will need to adapt with and for AI"
My 13 yo: "I'm trying to vibe code an app to help me plan my day so I have enough time to practice basketball and study"
🤷♂️
So cool!
