Economist (and Nobel laureate) Paul Krugman: “Control of Starlink must, one way or another, be taken away from Elon Musk. It’s a matter of national security: we cannot let private individuals make foreign and defense policy, and it would be totally irresponsible to leave a crucial military asset in the hands of a racist, authoritarian conspiracy theorist.”

German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul:
There will be no family photo featuring our European partners together with Mr. Lavrov.
There is no normality with Russia. We must not send false visual signals
One day after a Russian drone killed 14 people waiting for a train in Dnipro, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov landed in Atlanta for the G20 meeting hosted by Marco Rubio.
Several European diplomats objected to being photographed alongside Lavrov and threatened to walk out, forcing the U.S. to scrap the traditional group photo.
Absolutely disgusting

What an ass @JDVance is. He’s asked the most basic question about housing affordability, and he can’t even pretend to take it seriously.

The far right can be climate deadly. The 59.5% surge in Amazon deforestation under the 2019-2022 term of Jair Bolsonaro was the highest level of any four-year presidency in Brazil. Compare that with the 71.2% fall during the Lula administration. trib.al/pEJ8JSj

Every Texas bar has that one guy.
He’s loud. He’s obnoxious. He makes all the women feel uncomfortable. He adds his drink to your tab when you’re not looking.
That’s Ken Paxton — and I don’t know about y’all, but I’m done picking up his tab.

For nearly a month, this Administration has delayed approving vital Patriot and NASAMS air defense missiles for Ukraine. The Secretary of Defense must immediately approve these deliveries to protect Ukrainian civilians from Russian attacks and defend the energy infrastructure they depend on for heat and power as winter approaches. We must continue to stand with Ukraine and ensure it has the tools to defend itself.

Content of Tense Conversation Between Budanov and Trump's Team Revealed
Negotiations between the Ukrainian delegation and Donald Trump's special envoys in Miami, as reported by Le Monde, escalated into a conflict. According to the publication, during a three-hour meeting at the Shell Bay golf club, Steve Witkoff "with irritation" demanded that Kyrylo Budanov, head of Zelenskyy's office, cease strikes on Russian oil refineries.
Budanov, per Le Monde's information, "barely contained his anger" and felt that he was being "treated like a child, trying to teach him how to make money." The Americans presented an ambitious plan for postwar "regional prosperity," which envisioned resuming the transit of Russian oil and gas to Europe through Ukraine, with dividends paid to Kyiv.
Budanov was outraged that such a deal would tie Ukraine to Moscow, after which the negotiations broke off. When the meeting resumed, the Americans proposed accepting a deal for supplies of Russian diesel to the United States.
The publication's sources noted that they had never seen Ukrainians "so upset and alarmed." Zelenskyy's entourage described the situation as "hopeless," since Trump's envoys "think only about business."

So, Putin is offering the Trump family Ukraine's Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant (largest in Europe) and to jointly operate an LNG terminal in Alaska.
Replying to @ralexdc
BONUS: The most geopolitically sensitive proposals include a potential American role in Alaska LNG infrastructure involving Russian assets and a third-party management arrangement for Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant, with electricity shared between Ukraine and Russia, according to the officials.
The proposals are not necessarily final agreements.
