Heathrow Airport has pledged to go carbon neutral by 2030, not including “emissions from planes”. BP is going carbon neutral by 2050, not including “emissions from the use of their products”. Capitalism is going to kill you. But it also thinks you’re stupid.

The unwise proscription of Palestine Action has brought us to a point in which the Government is locking up protesters without trial for months on end and refusing to acknowledge them even on the brink of death. This absurd law must be repealed and the protesters given bail.

I am praying for the hunger strikers tonight, may they live to see the end of this genocide.

personal announcement: I have decided to respond to climate collapse and the rise of the far right by squeezing lemon juice into my eyes and screaming "AAAAAaaaaaahhhhh!"

BREAKING: Approximately a thousand protestors sat in Parliament Square with signs which read "I oppose genocide. I support Palestine Action" In a collective act of resistance, people are risking their liberty for our civil liberties and for the Palestinian people.

Yvette Cooper now says that Palestine Action was banned because of "some disturbing information referring to future planning". Their excuse used to be "shady funding", but that got debunked. And so they slip and they slide, they lie and they lie.
Yvette Cooper is asked about her decision to ban Palestine Action as a terrorist organisation and she claims she received detailed security assessments & advice & is in receipt of disturbing information that the rest of us don't know about

Journalists should ask: - Why, if that is true, they can't be prosecuted under criminal law? - Why Keir Starmer defended activists for doing the same? - Does she disagree with the UN human rights chief? - Will she resign if the ban is overturned? - Is this a sensible precedent?

The entire thing is so fragile and short-sighted that any serious democrat would be ruthlessly tearing it apart. But here we are, being governed by the most intellectually dishonest, illiberal liberals around.

It's a new day and I still support courageous protesters taking direct action to prevent war crimes. Peaceful protest strengthens democracy — banning protests weakens it. Free Palestine!

I've said it before and I'll say it again: The enemy of the working class travels by private jet, not migrant dinghy.

in the park opposite my flat, there's a primary school class who are learning about climate change. I have the window open and can hear them talking about fossil fuels and trees and their favourite animals and it's super sweet.

Five years ago... Thousands on the streets. A big pink boat in Oxford Circus. A garden bridge over the Thames. A day after this meeting, parliament was forced to declare a climate emergency. Say what you like about it now, but we ran rings around the lot of them. Good times!
"The fact Michael Gove cannot commit to declaring a climate emergency is not only a political failure, we believe that's a moral failure." That's what Extinction Rebellion's Sam Knights said after meeting the minister, who argued that "politicians should be judged on actions".

Not tweeting much these days, but Labour turning a debate on the collective punishment of the Palestinian people into a vapid little story about them blackmailing the Speaker of the House of Commons is so irredeemably gross. Everything that is wrong with Westminster.

BTW one of the many reasons a Machiavellian realpolitik doesn't really wash anymore is that once the most alluring reward for a politician was long-term power and today the most alluring reward is the short-term thrill of telling a journalist how clever and dastardly you've been.

Has been great to work with GNDR for the last year. I'm off for three or four months to concentrate on some other projects, but will miss disrupting events and campaigning for real progressives with this lot. Do check out our strategy and get involved. Hope has to be built.
Our generation has seen leader after leader declare war on a liveable future. This year, we’re changing the game. Here’s the plan for 2024: 📺 Watch now then join us on Monday night 👇

Very difficult to stomach developed countries talking self-congratulatorily about "climate justice" when they're the perpetuators of massive injustice by failing to reduce emissions, deliver finance, support adaptation and L&D, & enable a real fossil fuel phaseout globally #COP28
